Babies: 9 - 12 Months

If you BF at night

Do you change your LO's diaper at each feeding?  If not what diapers due you use?  I have tried the pampers and huggies overnight diapers and they both leak worse than the other ones.  I feed at 10:30 & 2:30am and lately I have had to change clothes and bedding at 2:30am because of the leaks.  Anyone have any suggestions?  I hate to have to completely wake up LO with the diaper changes.

  • Nope. He lasts all night in the same diaper. I use Pampers Baby Dry at night.

  • I use pampers baby dry. Sometimes I change her, sometimes I don't. Usually just depends how often she got up that night.
  • I agree with pp... pampers baby dry= amazing :)

  • Nope.  He doesn't wake up while he's eating at night.  Changing him would definitely wake him up.  Unless he poops or springs a leak, he's in the same diaper all night.  We use Luvs.

Have you tried just going up a size in diapers?  that seems to help when DS starts leaking.  I also try to put a fresh diaper on him as close to bed time as possible.

  • Try going up a size.  My kids are kind of long and lean, and they always need to go up a size LONG before the weight on the box says they should.

  • We use Fisher Price Happy Nights.  Only one leak so far!

  • Kirkland brand.  The best way to stop the leaks is to stop feeding at night.  Try to drop a feeding if ya can.

  • We love Sam's Club brand diapers.  Pampers ALWAYS leak overnight!  I can't stand them!!  I also agree with going up a size.  And maybe it is time to lose one of the feedings.  I would start with the 10:30pm one.  Try nursing for one minute less each night till you are at zero minutes.  This way thier little tummy gets used to less food at night slowly instead of all at once.

If you want to night wean, that's fine.  But I disagree that you have to night wean to stop the leaks.  DS cluster feeds from 6-8pm and nurses every 2-3 hours overnight and he is in the same Pampers cruiser from 7:30pm to 7am with no leaks.

  • My LO still eats every two hours at least, sometimes more.  We put her in a double stuffed FuzziBunz (cloth) and we've had no leak problems at all!

  • We just switched to cloth (bum genius and rumparooz) but prior to that we were using Huggies. I was changing him every feed up until 5 months and then stopped. We have never had a leak (knocks wood). Are you sure you're in the right size.

  • Go up a size at night.  We did this and no leaks!

  • No, I haven't changed a diaper at night since she was 2 or 3 months (and she nurses 1-3 times a night).  WE use Huggies Overnights.  I would go up a size if I were you.
