Baby is 7 weeks old, last night he started having a stuffy nose, little bit of a cough and acting a little more fussy than usual. I used some little noses saline spray to try and help him breath a little better, nursed him as usual and he went to sleep. Slept great from 11pm-6am (this is 1-2 hours more than usual, and I checked on him through the night)
This morning he seemed happy when he woke up, ate normally, since then he has been alternating nursing and sleeping all morning, still with a stuffy nose and occasional cough (like maybe 5 times this whole day). He has not had a fever.
Called the doctor to be safe, but they are closed due to the two blizzards we just had, should I call the emergency number or just wait until tomorrow when the office will likely be open?

listen to when he coughs, if he sounds phlemy or if he's coughing up mucous then it's in his lungs
you can also put your ear to his chest and listen to his lungs when he's breathing but that's more difficult

Just curious if you can hear mucous and sounds phlegmy what could that mean. That is how my DS sounds. He was just at the pedi. though.
DS had a cold and i took him to the dr. the dr put his head to DS chest and said he was listening to hear if his lungs sounded phlemy. then he used his stethoscope. he said if i got concerned i could try to listen myself but that it might be hard to know what I was looking for. that's when he said to try listening to DS cough instead
it never got worse and he never got phlemy so i'm not sure what they would have done if it did

if there is a PEDIATRIC Urgent care in your area, you could take him to be checked there tonight, if you are at all concerned. Those are specifically designed for when the regular drs office is closed, yet it is not a life-threatening emergency type of thing (where you would head to the ER).The difference from regular urgent care clinics is that there are experienced pediatricians and equipment specifically tailored to infants and children.
but I would say as long as he is sleeping well, eating and not fussing a lot (plus NO FEVER - by the way, what thermometer are you using?) you could wait till tomorrow AM for your regular pediatrician. But if you are worried - take him to the urgent care
good luck, i hope he gets better soon
