I really love the name Ryan as a girl's name. Would you spell it Ryan or Ryann or Ryanne???? I don't want people to pronounce it as "rhe-ann" though. Do you think the name is too "out there" though?? I could just see mother and MIL expressions when we tell them what our second daughter's name is!

Thanks!
Re: Ryan for girls name???
I PERSONALLY am not a fan of Ryan for a girl. I feel like there are lots of great girl names and that too many of the great boy names are being snatched up with this "boy name for a girl" trend.
If you do name a girl Ryan and want it pronounced that way I would just leave it alone. Ryanne would be pronounced "Rye-Anne". Ryann just looks strange to me (and like you are trying to make what *is* a boy's name look girly).
I like it, spelled Ryan. I know a girl named Rianne, pronounced "Rye-Anne"
I prefer just Ryan with a girlie middle name.
I had a student named Ryan a couple years ago (high school student). On the first day, I called the name and scanned the room and was surprised it was a girl. But it's really cute.
I also know a Ryana. Rye-Anna. An adult.
You don't plan on telling people IRL your name choice, do you??
I have always loved the name Ryan for a little girl.
If I were to name a girl that, I would spell it Ryann.
Love Ryan for a girl. Go for it if you like it.
My name is more commonly given to boys and I've always loved that. I definitely think it's been helpful professionally.
I totally agree.
i would just spell it Ryan. Ryann to me looks like Ry anne.
I know a little girl spelled Rian--pron Ryan-- but I think it looks like Rain backwards.
There are a lot of people using Ryan for a girl lately, so it's not too uncommon anymore.
I'd stick with Ryan. If I saw a girl with Ryanne I would assume Ry-Anne or Rhe-anne.
But then again, I'm not one who likes the changing of spellings just to make it more 'feminine'.

As a primary school teacher, I would worry about how you future daughter will feel about the name. It's fine for all of us to like it, but how will she feel if there's a boy in her class named Ryan? Or when people tell her it's a "boy name"? It may be very cute for a baby girl, but how much confusion will it cause for her as she grows up?
I knew a guy named Lauren and he would often get mail addressed to Mrs. Lauren X. He hated having a name that so many people thought was a girl name. It can be confusing when it come to job interviews, etc.
ohhhhh.......didn't even think about this! I am a teacher too........hmmmm thanks for your opinions!
PAL/PGAL Welcome
I am a huge fan of using boy names for girls. Ryan is definitely not too "out there"....I know 3!
If you love it, use it!

Ryan is all boy for me. I don't like it for a girl at all.
I agree with the PP -- why are we using so many boy names for girls? Seriously, Ryan, Elliott.... There are loads of gorgeous girl names out there.
