How often do you check on LO during the night? What about naps?
It seems like every time I sneak in to check on her she wakes within an hour. I can't not check on her at all, but I'm wondering if I'm being overly paranoid and checking on her too often.
Re: How often do you check on LO?
TTC #2 since 9/09 --- mild PCOS; Endometriosis
IUI x4 = BFN
IVF = sometime in 2012
When she first started sleeping on her stomach (there was no way around it), I was super-anal about checking on her and feeling her back (to make sure she was breathing!), and I'd check on her a couple of times during the night.
Now... I usually don't check on her at all. Our floor has a particular creak in it outside her door and she's in-tune to the fact that if it creaks, someone's standing there and she's instantly awake.
I will check on them before bed and that is all. We have a video monitor that I check if I wake up during the night.
I check once or twice before going to bed, then once when I get up in the morning if she's not awake yet.
Like Brenda, I checked probably no less than 10x when she started sleeping on her belly.
My real problem is that I've been wrapping Isabella in a blanket fr naps recently. She went from 30 minute naps to two hour naps after starting this. Now that she's sick, she sleeps a lot better if we do this at night too. The blanket freaks me out though.
Maybe I should just break down and but a video monitor so I can at least see that the blanket isn't covering her face.
Do you think that one of those sleep bags (Halo or Woombie) would do the same thing for you? We use those instead of blankets, for now anyway, so I don't worry as much.
I think she needs to feel tight wrapped. If the blanket is too loose she wakes up earlier. I don't mind as much with naps because it is easier to check on her, but I'm not that comfortable with it at night. However, right now she'll only sleep wrapped in a blanket or being held by one of us, and then we don't sleep. I'm doing it not only for our sanity, but so she can actually get some rest. She has a sinus infection and I feel like she really needs the rest to get better.
Never for naps.
Right before we go to bed we always go in to tell him we love him. Other than that, we don't go back in until he wakes up.
