do you put sunscreen on your dc before daycare each morning? Ds spends about 1 hr outside at daycare. His new daycare doesn't have the protective sun covering, so I am not sure what to do? What do you do for your dc?
When DS was in a center, we were told to put sunscreen on him every morning before we dropped him off and to leave a bottle there with a note authorizing them to apply it.
I had to sign a form saying that i would allow the school to put sunscreen on my child when i wasn't present. I had my own sunscreen i left at his school and hats as well
DD has a hat and sunscreen at daycare. I do sign forms every now and again so that they can apply the sunscreen without getting in trouble from the state, however.
I SO wish it were warm enough outside right now for me to be thinking about sunscreen! Brrr!
And to answer your question, sometimes they put it on, but they prefer that he already be wearing some when he gets there. But this doesn't matter for another 3 or 4 months (sigh...)
I leave sunscreen and a hat at daycare for DD. I have asked her teacher to use the sunscreen at her discretion and always put the hat on DD when they go outside. (DD is still pretty bald.)

This. But my center provides the sunscreen, and I know that they lather it on in before going outside in the summer. I also send a wide brimmed hat to school with DS in the summer.
Yes, we apply in the am before school and the school has sunscreen to reapply in the PM. I sent hats when my kids were little, although they were very good about keeping them in the shade. The playgrounds are actually really well shaded, so that helps.
This is a great question. DD's prior daycare had an exemption from the state because they were brand new and their outside play area hadn't been built yet. She was too little to play outside anyway. It's been cold since she started her new daycare so I hadn't thought about this yet. I'll have to check what the policy is there.
Do you all put sunscreen on in the winter? I know you're supposed to, but I never have.
No, my daycare puts sunscreen on all the kids in the summer before they go out both in the morning and afternoon. We just have to provide it but they are great about putting it on them.
in the summer i put it on him (arms, legs, neck, and a little on the face) in the morning. after nap time daycare re-applies it, they go outside in the morning and in the afternoon. i also left a sunhat there for him. and i had to sign a form give authorization to apply sunscreen to him. we had a bottle of sunscreen at school.
Re: Daycare moms: sun protection ?
During the time of the year when they go outside, the center has us apply it in the morning and then they put it on them again in the afternoon.

This, and we sign a permission slip so they can apply it when they need to.
