I am assuming it is best to wait until after your milk comes in to invest in nursing bras. Is this correct? Or should I buy for my usual size and hope for the best?
What about nursing tanks? I'd like to purchase some over the next few months as to spread out the cost. Or should I wait to see what my boobs do?

I got fitted at Nordie's. Let me RIGHT NOW recommend the most amazing bra: this one by Anita. It fits amazingly (and I'm on the bigger side), has a sweet little button you can slide side to side so you remember which side you last nursed on, and most importantly, it makes your boobs look GREAT. I was so tired of uniboob from the Target tanks (which I like as well) that I finally went into Nordie's in a huff and got properly sized (which is really important when using an underwire while nursing, so you can avoid blocked ducts) and then found this amazing bra. Love it.
It's a little spendy, though.

Thanks, I've bookmarked for later use
My due date IS my birthday afterall...and ever girl should have at least one comfy bra they love, regardless of cost right???

You can probably go to the Nurture Center and Kaiser has a great selection of Bravado products if you see the LC there- she'll likely be able to fit you as well.
I bought Target tanks and wore one home from the hospital. I lived in those bad boys but I am a lifetime member of the itty bitty tata club so even with milk I never needed more support than the tank had to offer. I am still a little bitter about that ; )
Ditto that bra completely! I wore the crap out of that thing!
I bought one tank before DD came (I bought it about a week before delivering) and once my milk came in it was way too small! But once my supply stabilized (I had overproduction issues) the tank fit great. I had a mini photoshoot by my Dad in the tank when Jenna was a week old. After seeing the initial photos (LCD screen) I ran and grabbed another top... it was just too revealing alone!
If you want to spread the investment out, go into the store, buy a gift card when you've got some 'extra cash' (whatever a new bra would cost). Do that a couple times before your bee arrives and you'll be all set to go shopping shortly after her arrival.
This is what I labored in! Perfect for that also

I am not a member of the itty bitty club. I bought nursing bras when I outgrew my regular ones while PG, hoping I could use them after birth as they were not cheap (nothing is in my size). They worked okay. I also bought and still wear target nursing tanks (the full drop down version, not they style with the holes). And then I shopped online a ton and tried on stuff at home and sent back loads that didn't fit. I tried to get fitted at a maternity shop locally and that sort of worked but she only had one bra in my size.
I also found that my size fluctuated dramatically through the day so the only things that worked for months and months were really really stretchy almost not there bras.
You're so smart!

I will be avoiding the Kaiser LCs at all costs...but I went to the Nurture Center today and wow, they changed the place up! And have a fitting room now. AND have the bra that alibee suggested! SCOREEEE.
