3rd Trimester

I feel dumb even asking this...

But LO has been super quiet today. Kick counts don't start until 28 weeks...right? I feel like I am so close to that mark, but I also don't want to be too paranoid. Thoughts? TIA.

Re: I feel dumb even asking this...

  • sit down and bend forward as much as you can and wait for a minute or so. Squishing my LO always worked! If not, ICE cold water, lay on your left side for a while etc. If still nothing, call and ask what they'd like you to do!

  • my LO get active if i rub lotion on my belly for a while.
  • Try talking to LO too.

My LO hasn't been very active today, and I was so exhausted when I woke up that I can't recall if I felt her when I first woke up (although its too early for regular movement, she still seems to get active as soon as I get up in the am). I was gettingworried, so I ate lunch and sat on the couch for awhile. Still not feeling her, I talked to her and asked her to please kick a little at least. She finally did but it still felt lighter than normal...however, she's off on my right side which is a new place for her (since I've been feeling her at any rate) so I think that may be why I'm not feeling her as much today...

  • Orange juice will also get LO moving and relax.  If nothing happens after half an hour call your doc.

  • My OB didn't have me do kick counts, but he said to just pay attention to when LO normally moves. For me, LO moves after I eat and when I play loud music and sing badly in the car. Embarrassed  If yours isn't moving according to when he/she normally moves, call your OB if you are really worried. Some days LO will be quieter than others, though. That is normal.

  • My OB's office says that kick counts don't officially start until 28 weeks. However, since I had been feeling LO so consistently he had me start them around 24-25 weeks. I would drink something sugary like OJ then lay down for a few minutes and see if that gets him going.
