How Long On Hold for Pediatrician During After Hours?

I called my pediatrician's after hours number this morning at 5:15am and was on hold 12 minutes before I gave up. There are 6 doctors in that office...That along with a couple other concerns make me want to switch doctors.

How long do you think is appropriate to wait on hold? How long have you had to?

 (I just kept thinking what if my daughter was screaming her head off or really sick during that time, I only called to make sure a cold med was okay before giving it to her and I ended up not giving it to her until I see how she feels tonight)

    We called one night when A had a 102.8 fever about 7pm, and we got a return phone call at 9am the next morning, good thing the fever came down or we would have just gone to the hospital.

     

    And we really like our pedi, hopefully it's just a fluke or we will have to look for another one.
