Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Anyone else scared the next one won't be as EASY?

DS is a super easy baby.  Happy 99% of the time.  Goes down for naps easy.  Goes to bed easy.  STTN 90% of the time (11+ hours straight).  Eats anything I put in front of him.  Etc, etc.

I'm so scared LO #2 will be a demon child...that I almost don't want to risk it.  Anyone else with me on this?  Devil

  • I have this thought every single day.

I am terrified that #2 will come from the depths of hell.

  • YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think of this all the time and it scares the living crap out of me!
  • Me! (hand raised up high)

  • Yes I have thought about this.  DS is so easy going and great sleeper.
  • Meeeee!!! I had a fabulous pregnancy, fabulous delivery, and a fabulous baby. I mean, she throws a tantrum when she naps and doesn't sleep through the night, but her temperment other than that is amazing... seriously, happiest baby ever. The next baby is going to be my payback b/c I was a terrible, colicky baby. TERRIFIED!
  • Yes!  DD is a wonderful, happy baby and I am so scared if we decide to have a second he/she will be the exact opposite.

  • I was scared of this because DS was so good.  DD has proven to be just as good (if not better).  The sleeping is a little rougher than DS's, but other than that she is great.

Now, I am scared of the third.  I feel like I've pressed my luck with two good babies.  The third is sure to be a terror.

  • I've thought the exact opposite!  The next child BETTER be easy or we're DONE!!!

  • We are going to start TTC in a few months, and I'm scared. Since DS is (and always has been) such an easy baby my family says the next one is going to be awful.

  • DD won't nap for a thing, but sleeps through the night.. I can take that.. what scares me is a non sleeper. I love sleep. I worry all the time about #2 being up all night, and me going to work like a zombie!

    good thing we're waiting awhile!

  • I am so glad I am not the only one that feels this way. DD is the best baby and I am so worried that #2 will not be.

  • I have the total opposite to your baby.  His name is Benjamin and he hasn't let mama sleep more than 1-3 hours a night for 2 weeks.  IF there every is a #3, he/she can't possibly be this difficult.
  • Yes, and my theory is, If God made the first babies bad, we'd all only have one child! right?

  • ME! My mom had this happen. I was the "perfect" baby and then my sister came. She was colicky, had special formula, and other problems. She cried all.the.time. I remember because I was 6. It was terrible. I'm hoping it was because we have different dads so different genetics but IDK. I'm terrified to have another one.

  • DS is probably middle-of-the-road on the easy scale.  He's STTN on occasion, but gets up 4 times on occasion as well.  He's very happy and really only fusses when he's tired.  I'd be okay with another like him, although I'd prefer a really easy one!

"You're gonna miss this You're gonna want this back You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast..."
  • This is DH's fear/excuse. He's afraid the next one will be Damian. I told him he's a wuss. LOL

  • I have 3 kids and neither of them were the same as babies. I wouldn't say they were all easy because they all had their moments but for some reason this 3rd time around I'd say it was harder than the two before.  She's better now, I'm just comparing from when they were all newborns. My first two were very laid back, sleep most of the time. But Jaslyn is a lot more needy, a lot more active and needs a lot more attention.  But I still love that little booger ;)
  • YES!!!!!!!!!! I feel the exact same way! Honestly makes me leery of having another!
  • Me !

And as I was hugging the toilet a couple of weeks ago due to the stomach virus I was wondering if  that is how my second pregnancy would be to make up for the first perfect one.

  • I can't say "yes" strongly enough. What are the chances the next one is going to be as easy-going and as good of a sleeper as DS? They've got to be slim-to-none....

  • Yes! Absolutely!

I'm afraid that we've been softened up by our LO and I wouldn't know what to do if he wasn't as easygoing as he is!

  • DH is worried about this.  I think the next one will be good in ways Allie may not be...  But I hope the next one is good...

  • Yes. I am due in June and have decided to prepare for the worst and hope for the best. We were blessed to have an easy child first, but I know that it might not be the case next time around.
  • I'm deciding to be one and done because DD is seriously the greatest and I feel like I'll pay my dues with the next one lol

  • Oh yea! It's not enough for me to not want to risk it- I definitely want more kids!

DD has such a great temperament, she is seriously the happiest kid ever! I love that I can take her anywhere and never have to worry about her throwing a fit or anything like that (at least up til this point-who knows how she'll be when the terrible 2's hit!). She's been a fantastic sleeper from the beginning-there's NO way I could get this lucky twice!

  • I won't lie. This exact thing will happen with me, although I wouldn't call her a demon child. She is definitely much more needy than my first.

  • Not so much scared as perparing for it. I am preparing for the worst but hoping for the best. Eeek. S has been a dream...I would be shocked to have  a 2nd one as easy and mellow as she.
