The Knot girls were mean to me!!!

::Sad Face::

Lol. I didn't know that everyone over there is brutal and I was excited about getting my wedding planning started so I went over there to ask a question lol. It may have been stupid but I really wanted to know if there was a proper way to ask people to be in your wedding party (i.e. like not over the phone...) and they jumped down my throat and then pretty much said I wasn't a good mom for letting DS sit in his boppy on the couch. Well, one picture I just took to show off his new activity gym... anyways lol.

It really did hurt my feelings lol, but it was 1am and William had a horrible night Sad But I woke up and laughed at myself for being lame lol.

Anyways, I just was surprised at how much more brutal they are over there than here. Maybe having William made me a softie Big Smile

Some of you guys should teach us a "How to Hold Your Own W/ Snark" class Wink

Anyways, I don't know what the point of this post was... maybe to AW my stupidity.

  • I wouldn't let my DS sit on a boppy on a couch.

And i would say text or email is too impersonal- I mailed my ladies handwritten cards, but phone would be good as well.

  • Eh, I agree.  I posted once on the Knot for my wedding, and got a TON of snark.  I never went back.  My question was stupid and immature - looking back, I would have given myself snark, too.  It's much friendlier over here, even though I'm not a P&R kind of girl.

  • I called.  All of my BMs were out of state.
  • Shame on them for being rude to you! And I totally agree about the "snark lesson" class!! I did a outside garden wedding, so it wasn't really a fancy shmancy wedding to begin with, so keeping with that laid back vibe, (and because they are are locals) I took my hopeful bridesmaids out to a nice lunch and asked them there. And of course I paid. :)

My LO LIVES on his Boppy on the couch, and I sit here with him all day unless we're out and about. What the heck's wrong with them being on a Boppy on the couch if they're attended??

    LMFAO.  Seriously, ::dead::

    & not at you.

  • First mistake, the etiquette board is notorious for snark.  yuck!  Go on your local board and ask questions, people on the locals are usually pretty nice, unless there is a meany in the bunch, but they are generally a little more welcoming.

I called everyone first and told them I was engaged, then I sent a cute card asking them to be in my wedding party.  It took me a while to narrow it all down with how many BMs and stuff, but didnt want to wait to tell everyone the good news.  GL!

  • I made a special date with each of my bridesmaids... but looking back I would have not asked 2/3 then ended up being a PITA...?

  • @Blair: Really? Because my sarcasm radar has been failing lately and it would kill me if one of my favorite bump people thought I was and idiot lol. Wink

But I'll gladly dance on my P&R island with William than ask another question over there lol.

  • I stuck to my local board when I was  Knottie.  That was pretty safe territory. Stick out tongue

  • I was a Knottie lurker..I was planning my wedding at the same time there was that news story about how a group of Knotties got together and cancelled this other Knotties entire wedding.  I was too scared to post.  When in doubt...lurk.  Big Smile

Anyway, I called the ones who lived far away from me.  I only had one (my moh) who lived in my town and we went out to dinner and I asked her there.

  • 1. those girl are dipshits

    2. your picture is fine, they don't know what they're talking about (of course as long as he's not left there and it was only for a pic, which you've already said was the case)

    3. don't go changing your siggy or yourself just so that those stupid assholes will like you, they're not worth it

  • I heard about the wedding cancelled drama too back when I was planning my wedding, I hope that isn't true, but it probably is.  I remember some really popular knotties taking all their vendor info out of their bios after that.  YIKES!  Crazy!  But I do know a knottie that got fired from her job because another knottie found out where she worked and called her boss and told them that she was always on the internet.  HA!

Wow...there are some special ones over there....on another note, I have like five million photos of my boys in a boppy together. IMO there isn't anything bad about that.

  • Wow, those girls are a bunch of biitches.  There is nothing wrong with having your son on the boppy on the couch if he is attended.  I do this all the time.  How bout they wait until they have a baby before they start lecturing you on parenting.  A$$holes.

I have no idea.  I read something about it online after my mom told me about it.  She told me she didn't care where or how I planned my wedding but she was not paying two deposits so I was not allowed to post the details of my wedding on the internet.

I think it was in NY somewhere...sometime in 2006...maybe late '05.

Hmm. I need to go check my knot page and see if anything like that is up. I created it back in 08 so there's no telling what's put down!

  • You could always ask us wedding questions.  A lot of us are married.  I asked mine over the phone because they were all spread out over the country.

And DS is in his boppy on the couch all the time.  Of course he's supervised but those ladies need to relax.

  • Actually I have the same "boppy" as you I think, from your pic- it's a CuddleU? It has seat straps so the baby can't wriggle out. I think it's very secure and I leave my son in it on the couch sleeping as long as I'm around to supervise. My friends with boppies who have come over all want one like I have when they see the seat feature.
  • I used the knot when I was engaged, but never even lurked on the boards. I just used the site for some of it's other resources. The more I learn about the knot...the more I'm really glad I never posted on their boards.

But yeah, that was some super lame flaming. Your siggy is too big and your kid is sitting on the couch in a boppy? Seems like a lame thing for anyone to make fun of IMO.

I wouldn't worry about it. And I wouldn't waste my time posting there for wedding planning. Use the resources the site has, and feel free to ask questions on your current bump boards. The majority of us have planned weddings before as well and don't mind answering a question from time to time. Smile

Yeah I have a cuddleU as well. They are really nice. And you can get them for 19.95 at Walmart!

Lol yeah, I just call it a boopy to fit in Wink

I usually use the seat straps too but I took a quick pic and got him out and put him back in the moby lol.
