water breakage or pee?

So all this morning I have been feeling slightly crampy and icky. Nothing major. Then about an hour ago I went to go to the bathroom. As a I was going, (it was a pretty loose stool) I felt this odd little gush like I peed, but it wasn't voluntary like peeing is. And it felt like it was from the wrong spot. I have had a little bit of leaking since, but it almost feels like normal discharge. I have already been in to L&D twice and I don't want to go in and be sent home a third time. I also don't want to ignore this though. I talked to a couple of friends whose water broke and they said it sounded like water breaking. Oh also I am not having painful contractions. What should I do? Should I wait a little and see if I have some contractions? I know some people don't get them right away and I don't want to wait too long. TIA.

    Our birth class instructor said that if you're not sure if it was your water breaking or pee, to put on a pad and walk around for a little while.  If the pad is soaked or close to soaked within an hour or so, it's probably your water.  You can also go by smell--normal cervical discharge should smell slightly sweet, healthy amniotic fluid has no smell, and pee smells like, well, pee.

    If it was your water I would check it like the previous poster said.  Put on a pad and see what it there after an hour or so of walking around.  When they broke my water at the hospital with DS it was gross.  I had a pad on and you could feel lots of it leaking out on its own while walking around the hospital....I hated it!  You will know when it is your water, don't worry.

    That is exactly what happened to me, a few times in one day.  It was not a large amount of water, but it was a gush like you said.  I called my OB after about the third or fourth time it happened that day, the last time being in walmart where it gushed and it was a larger amount.  I had to go ahead and go to Labor and Delivery so they could test if it was amniotic fluid or not.  This was 3 days after my due date...had DD the next morning.
