Does anyone have Aflac?

I am ttc. I heard that Aflac has a plan that pays you while you are in the hospital giving birth. Does it also pay if you are on forced bedrest and have to miss work?I also wonder if it would pay if you have to stay in the hospital due to infertility complications? Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

Re: Does anyone have Aflac?

  • I have AFLAC.  You need to sign up before becoming pregnant!  If you sing up for disability it covers just you---it begins after you have been out of work for 14 days (includes weekends) then it pays you certain amount of money.  depends on what premium package you choose as I here they have changed their payouts now to be up to $5000 a month.  The hospital indemnity plan covers you and your family.  No matter what reason you are in the hospital, as long as it it over 24 hours (I believe) they pay.  Aflac will pay for bedrest if you have documented proof from MD that you cannot work.  I love AFLAC it is sooooo worth it!!

  • I have AFLAC sttd and hospital indemnity.  You have to have the policy at least 10 months prior to the birth of your baby.  I signed up in January and it wouldn't cover anything until Oct 1.  STTD is like every other plan.  It covers you for 6 weeks at 60% pay and starts after the first week (you get 5 weeks at 60% tax free).  If you're on bedrest, you can get your STTD but then you won't have any for after the baby.  I was on modified bed rest and I used my sick time while out and STTD after.

Hospital indemnity gives you a check for the procedure and money for each day you're in the hospital.  It pays after you've been in the hospital >14 hours.  If you're getting this policy, ask about getting a rider on it.  The typical policy pays $250 for the first day.  I have a rider on the policy where I got $1000 for the first day and it hardly cost me any more.  The money from this policy is also tax free.

If you get it, I had problems with the money for the hospital stay and had to get an itemized bill from the hospital so they could see how many days I was in the hospital.  My rep was really good and really helpful sorting out all my problems.
