Tips on getting DS to sleep in crib

Re: Tips on getting DS to sleep in crib

  • Woombie and a monitor that plays music that you can turn on remotely (like the Levana Babyview20) they are both lifesavers and make DS like his crib.  Before this combination DS was only sleeping in his carseat and ony 4 hrs at at time, once we started these (both at the same time) he started going down for 9-11 hours!  When he wakes up in the woombie after just going down or after just a few hours I turn on the music remotely and within 1 min he stops crying and looks around and closes his eyes and goes back down to sleep.  First night was rough since DS didn't like the woombie, but we rocked him to sleep in it and then put him in the crib and turned on the music when he woke up.

Without going in the room we don't excite him more and it has worked wonders.  Now when he goes in his woombie we don't even rock him, just put him down awake (but drowsy) and he puts himself to sleep.

    Good luck!

  • does DS spend anytime in the crib during the day??? i would change DD in crib instead of the changing table...than let her coo and lay a bit at first...than i started laying her down for naps in the crib...even if she cried i would leave her (checking to make sure she had her paci)...she eventually would fall asleep...than i started putting her in the crib at night, but she was already sleeping through the night in our bed...good luck

This is our exact strategy. (Exact same products, too! How funny). Also, We try not to pick DD up to soothe her unless she's really freaking out. We'll go in and put her paci in her mouth and pat her shoulder, or slightly roll her over enough to pat her back, but we try to avoid pulling her out of the crib and holding her. It seemed like if we picked her up it just took that much longer to get her to fall asleep.
