Backache suggestions

I am 29 weeks right now and a teacher, which means I stand for a good portion of my school day.  Sometimes during the day, and even at night sometimes, I am having problems with my backhurting.  I realize I am getting to the point these aches are due to the front of my belly, but I am tired of my back aching!

Is there anything you do that makes your back feel good during the day? At night in bed?

Thanks!

Re: Backache suggestions

  • You could try wearing one of those maternity support belts. I found it really helped me. They are a little uncomfortable to wear but you'll find that at the end of the day your back isn't hurting near as much. Another thing you could do is get one of those total body pillows like the Snoogle for sleeping. https://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/183-6544832-6944818?ASIN=B0000635WI&AFID=Froogle&LNM=B0000635WI|Snoogle_Original&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=B0000635WI&ref=tgt_adv_XSG10001

  • for sleep, i try to position my belly on a pillow for support. and i will switch sides i'm sleeping on if i wake up to pee (which is a given)

i roll on a ball, use a heating pad occasionally, or a massage pad, and stretch. I will do the hands and knees camel pelvic tilt stretch. if it hurts from sitting, i'll walk around and vice versa.

  • I have found pre-natal yoga really helps with the back pain. I recently found a dvd at target which helps to stretch the back, and helps me with the pain. Hope that helps!
  • I am also a teacher so I feel your pain...literally! I found really comfy shoes (they aren't too cute but oh well), I started sitting down more during the day and having the kids come to me ( I teach 4th grade so this is easy) and I go get a pregnancy massage every 2 weeks at a local wellness center not a salon...its cheaper and my massage therapist specializes in preggo massage. Also I take warm bathes a lot these days!
