  Is it a family name?  That is my friend's last name.

  Not a family name. Just a name I thought of one day! Ended up being the only one DH and I both liked!

  Background...Blaise (or Blase in some spellings) is the patron saint of throats. (We are Catholic.) Also, Blaise Pascal is an influential philosopher and mathematician, who was also a theologian. (DH is a math teacher.) We are both teachers and get tired of hearing the same names over and over again. Yet, I don't really like made up names. Plus, it's an old French name. I like old things, and DH's last name is French, so it just all seemed to fit!
