Dry Skin

DD has some really dry skin patches on her body, especially on her face and her legs. Our ped told us to use cortizone cream on them, we do, and after a couple days the patches come right back, so lately during her baths I've been rubbing cortizone cream on her face and legs but thats going to get really pricy considering the tube is so small.

Any suggestions what to use to keep her skin healthy and not so dry? (I tried using nighttime baby lotion and she screamed when I put it on - I'm assuming it probably burned when it touched her sensitive dry skin)

How often does she get a bath? I would say don't give her a bath any more often than once every 3 days.. that will help a lot. We always only give Eve a bath twice a week and she has never had any probs with dry skin.

right now, every other day she gets bath, but half the time just water and half the time with soap.

Is it eczema? I use the hydrocortisone cream on the eczema patches, but not all over. II would personally only use the steroid on the areas that are red and itchy, but not all over. I use the baby aveeno lotion to moisturize the dry skin after a bath. I also only give a bath twice a week to help with the dry skin. And you could use a humidifier in her room as well.

I would also use Aveeno or similar lotion (we use Cetaphil) all over and the hydrocortizone only on the patches as needed. We also put a humidifier in Eva's room to help since the air is so dry in the winter.

I used to use the aquafor by eucerin cream and that worked pretty well. I agree with others about aveeno and cetaphil too.

Same as pp's, we use Aveeno baby all over, cortisone on the patches with Aquafor over top and and other only her about twice a week. I actually have a bad case of excema on my eyelid and the cortisone and aquafor is clearing it up. I never would have thought of that before I had T.

I would also say to decrease the amount of baths. My son has a minor case of eczema and it always looks worse after I give him a bath. The dr. told us to use hydrocortisone cream on the spots and also aquaphor.
