Do you give LO a multivitamin?

At DS's 1 month appointment today the pediatrician wrote a "prescription" for an over the counter vitamin - Poly Vi Sol, with iron.

She said they like breastfed babies to have this to make sure they're getting everything they should be.

Anyone else's pediatrician have LO taking a multivitamin?

DD takes Poly Vi Sol as well.

Yes. My son takes polyvisol every day b/c he exclusively gets breastmilk and Vitamin D isn't easily passed.

Yes, we give DD poly vi sol as well. From what I have heard the only thing most LOs actually need from this is the Vit D. Sometimes DD spits up the Poly vi sol...if this keeps happening I will ask the ped if we can switch to one of the other options (Carlson Vit D, Tri Vi Sol, etc.) to see if it agrees better with her.

Yes, just for the vitamin D. We do the tri vi sol. Pediatrician specifically said not to give DD the one with iron because babies get enough through breast milk, and it is very dangerous if they get too much. DD hates taking the stuff though. The dosage is 1 mL and she has trouble swallowing it, even though we give her a tiny amount at a time. I was thinking about trying to mix it with a breast milk bottle, but the stuff smells and probably I doubt she would drink the bottle.
