WDYT about travel insurance?

Anyone ever bought it/used it?  We've never done it before but are considering looking into it for our Belize trip. We're going in late April/early May which isn't hurricane season.  I'm guessing trip insurance only covers major things like hurricanes, terrorist attacks, etc. not wind and rain the whole time which meant the dive boat couldn't go out.  Yes, I will google but just wondering if anyone here had any experience. Thanks!

    We never bought it until we had AT. We bought the cancel for any reason even on the plane tickets.

    I jsut didnt want to take that chance that we would be out the money if he was sick and we had to stay home etc.

    If it were me I would get it you just never know. GL!

    When I booked out Disney trip yesterday, I got the travel insurance. I just did not want to take a chance with Ashley. It is really great, if she gets sick while we are there, they refund the balance of our money. If she gets sick before, we can reschedule the trip. It even covers our camera if it gets lost or stolen on the trip. I would definitely get it, especially with going to Belize.

    I typically get the insurance with my packages through our ta. We haved used ours 3 times. We always get cancel for any reason. We have cancelled 2x because we found a cheaper rate and 1 time due to swime flu. The insurance (depending on what you get) will cover canceling, trip interruption (if u need to come home early) medical coverage if u get sick, and many other things. Check out insuremytrip.com - that is who we are using for this trip (cxl original package for this trip for a better deal not as a package). I found one for about $100 that is cancel for any reason and gives us the coverage we want.
