3rd Trimester

first internal... not so bad

Got the strep test and had my first internal this morning... 60-70% effaced, no dialation yet. Bum! I was expecting pain--it was more just uncomfy than anything, no real pain. I concentrated on the ceiling tiles during it, and that helped.

I saw my nurse practictioner this week--next week, the male doc will examine me, and NP says, "I was being very gentle--just to warn you, my hands are a lot smaller than the doc's are!" Great! Yet another good reason to have a woman NP/doctor... lol

Re: first internal... not so bad

  • Actually, the smaller hands have been what hurt me the most... I thin Aegrimm said the same thing. They have to put way more pressure on your outer area to be able to feel what's going on in the inner area. For me... the doc with the bigger hands has been WAY quicker and more comfortable!

  • I had my first this morning too. Definitely not as bad as everyone says it is & mine was done by my male doctor!

Cervix is closed up, 0% effacement and baby's head is still floating. Let's home this time next week there is a little bit more progress going on!!

  • Well hey, if bigger means more comfortable, I'm all for it, lol.

And Ainsley--my best friend's sis in law had a baby and named her Ainsley. Such a cute name!

Hopefully next week we'll have more news to report :)
