If not, did you get them?pierced later on in life??
How did you feel about it? Were you glad it was done for you? Wished you had a choice in it? Mad that you have holes that you didnt want? Suffer from any serious infections?
I got mine around the age of 11. My grandma took me to get them done, then we went to lunch and hung out. It is one of my most precious childhood memories.

Yes mine were done as an infant, no infections, no complaints.... got 2nd set of holes when I was 16. DD#1 was done at 6 weeks- no infections and she likes wearing earrings.

Mine were pierced as an infant and, honestly, I am glad they were. I'm a chicken about stuff like that, but I love wearing earrings. I don't know if I had an infection afterwards, but I've never had any problems as long as I can remember.

I didn't get mine pierced as an infant. I think I was 5 when I got them and I'm pretty sure I asked for them. My mom had to take them out before the recommended time because my ears got severely infected. I remember her taking them out with my head over the bathroom sink and blood and puss poured out of my ears. That hurt....a lot (from what I remember as a 5 year old). I rarely wear earings anymore.
My mom had them done for me when I was 2 and I'm glad she did. I got my DD's done when she was 6 months, and she freaks out if she doenst have any earings in. She is a MAJOR girly girl, I'm glad I got hers done when I did b/c I dont think she would have been able to handle it later on.
I didn't get my ears pierced until college. At the moment I have 3 piercings on each side.
I'm glad my parents left the choice (and responsibility) up to me. I have had an ear piercing get a bit infected (despite regularly cleaning it) and it was quite irritated for several days, although nothing serious.
got them done at the hospital when i was born. no problems except the holes aren't exactly evenly places so some earrins look funny, like i'm leaning my head. DD got it done at 12w w/ no complications even tho the girl that did it must've been 14 or something! i have no memories of it and even didn't wear any earrings for a few yrs when i was around 9 and it never closed. DD has never acted like she even knows they're there!
Mine were done when I was a baby. I remember going with a friend to get hers when we were like 13 and she said it hurt really bad. I was glad mine were already done. I never had any infections from it. I got second holes when I was 15 and the piercer messed up and my ear closed up over the earring while I was sleeping.
Mine were done as an infant. I personally will not be piercing my daughter's ears but it has never bothered me that mine were done before I was old enough to make that decision.

I got my mine done with my mom when I was about 10. I had been asking and she finally took me one day and we had a mom and daughter day. Did the same thing for my second piercing when I was 16. Great memories, no infections and I couldn't wait to show my girlfriends. I plan to do the same with my little girl.
I got my first ear piercing when I was 6 (and old enough to be the one that request it). I'm glad that I was old enough to ask to have it done, and remember the pain associated with it. I did make the mistake of putting in regular earrings to soon after the piercing and then had the backs grown over. It was painful and a yucky infection resulted, but it was a good lesson. And it kept me from asking to have the second hole pierced for a LONG time. Flame if you want, but I think it's creepy to pierce baby's ears.
Mine were done when I was a newborn and I'm glad my parents did that. When I was a little girl (3) I had to have my hair cut short and was paranoid that people would think I was a boy so I announced to everyone "I'm a girl, see, I have earrings!"

I got mine done at 11. It was a right of passage and I had to earn it, as well as want it. I'm thankful my parents waited instead of making that decision for me.
I got them pierced when I was around 5 or 6 and was old enough to ask my mom for it. I do recall that they got infected, probably because I was a little too young to properly take care of them myself. That didn't really stop me from getting a second hole piercing (and then a third) later in life, but there was a significant gap in years between the first and the second.
Personally, I won't pierce my LO's ears unless she asks for it.

I got my ears pierced twice. Once when I was around 10 years old but I didn't take care of them and they closed up. And again when I was 16. I loved my pierced ears both times I got them done but I just wan't responsible enough too keep them from closing the first time. Plus I was playing softball and other sports and we weren't allowed to have them. I wouldn't have minded if my mother had pierced them when I was younger.
Had my first holes when I was a infant. No infections and was glad she did it. I got my second holes when I was 13. I love them! Dh and I were just talkingabout if we are going to have DD ears pierced as a baby...no decision made yet...
My parents agreed not to let me get them pierced until I was 10...
When I was 7, my mom went to Paris on a week-long trip for her design degree...my dad couldn't handle me crying and asked what it would take for me to stop, I told him, "I want my ears pierced" -- so, he took me...didn't even tell my mom on the phone!!
She came home and saw them...;)
They closed up and I pierced them again in high school - got a second pierce at 16 without permission, but, my mom actually liked what it looked like, so she didn't punish me!
I had mine pierced at 21 -hahahaha! My mom always wanted me to chose piercing for myself, but did add that she had hers done at 14. Sometimes I wish I did at 12 or something, but overall, I'm glad I waited until I was ready.
My mom wanted to do mine as an infant, but my dad said no--so mom waited till I was three and then had it done. I had no issues, and by the time I was in junior high I had four in one ear and six in the other. (I love jewelry.)
If we have a daughter, DH says we have to wait until she's old enough to want them herself . . . if it was up to me, I would do them as an infant.
I still don't have mine done and I'm 26. I just don't have any desire too and I'm not a jewlery person (I wear only my wedding rings and my daughter's pride ring) so I'm glad that my parents didn't get it done for me! But I acknowledge that I am unique that way....

My parents wouldn't let me get my ears pierced until I was a teenager- they were pretty strict. I was glad my parents let me make my own decision when thye felt I was old enough...
Being hispanic (mom is Colombian and dad is Mexican) like a good latina girl I got them pierced as a baby.
I always felt SO cool being one of the only girls with my ears pierced and I remember all my little friends crying and begging their moms to get theirs pierced in grammar school and I was like "huh? I don't get it...pshhh I had mine pierced as a baby!"
However, I couldn't shave my legs til like 8th grade and was NOT allowed to go to sleepovers ever. So..really I wasn't very cool, despite my cool pierced ears
Oh and about infections, my ears have always been super sensitive but you know what, when you pierce a baby's ears they use very hypo-allergenic sensitive gold or other material, and I just have to continue wearing those types of earrings so no big deal. (and I have 2 more holes in each ear anyway...)
Mine were done as a reward for having stoped sucking on my thumb. I wish I had gotten them as a baby insted as a child. I played with them a lot, they fell out tons of times and had to get re-done and hurt a lot. I will avoid that with this child if I have a girl by getting them done before they even know what their ears are.
Mine were pierced as an infant and I was completely fine with it. I have no idea if they ever got infected or not
My mom figured that if I didn't want them that I didn't have to wear them and could just let them close. It's not like it's crazy noticeable or anything.
I still have the earrings that were used to pierce my ears and I love that I can still wear them 31 years later. What else can you use from infancy?
We haven't even talked about that for DD yet.

I was 5 years old when I had my ears pierced. No regrets. They ended up closing up after a couple of years because I didn't wear earrings for a while. I had them done again sometime when I was a teenager.
My ears were peirced as a baby, and yes I did have problems with infections, still do. I rarely wear earrings because of my problems with infections, itching and redness. But I don't fault my parents for getting them done, I like wearing earrings and I am sure I'd have gotten them done at a later age and we'd have found out about my infections issues then.
My ex had a daughter and we got her ears pierced when we were together, and what an experience THAT was!! She was probably 8 or so and we took her to the mall, she was screaming bloody murder, everyone was looking at us like we were terrible parents who abused our kid!! She had trouble caring for them, turning them, etc. and I believe ended up taking them out because she couldn't handle the responsibility.
So I guess I am sort of torn on the peircing debate, if you do get them done when they are little it does seem to be less of a hassle, but I also relate to the other side of the argument, it should be a responsibility/privilege, not just for decoration.
Got mine at 12yo when I was asking for it for my b-day. I had some issues with infections so my mom was probably glad she didn't do it when I was an infant.
I personally don't see the point of piercing infants' ears, but that is my opinion.(I don't judge those that do) I'll do my LOs when she asks for it.

I had mine done as an infant and never played with them or tried to pull them out no infections either.
A lot of people try to use the whole I remember going and it was so great example to prove their point but heres another view. I dont remember exact ages but I do remember special birthdays and Christmas presents where my parents (mostly my dad) went out and bought me my first pair of real gold earings, my first diamond earings etc. They were the most special gifts. I will be getting my daughters ears done as an infant we have already discussed this, both families have always done this and it cuts down on risking the child not cleaning as often as needed and many other complications. To each their own opinion on this touchy subject
