S/O- flying with LO

Where do you change their diaper?

I can't imagine there would be much room in the bathrooms... But then again, I've never paid much attention to if it would be possible to change a diaper on an airplane.

Tips/thoughts?

Re: S/O- flying with LO

  • I changed him in the bathroom. It's cramped, but very doable.

But I didn't bring his whole diaper bag in with me. I just grabbed his wipes, a diaper and a receiving blanket.

    Seriously, it was really easy.

  • I do it right on my lap.  But if you are flying solo might be tough.

  • I would change LO just before you got on the plane.  That is what I used to do with DD when she was little.   If LO is flying in a car seat and has an accident then just unbuckle the bottom part and change the diaper.   HTH!

Oh good. I figured there has to be a way! Is there a place to lay him, or where did you put him?

This is also what I was thinking... We take off at 6AM, so I'm hoping he'll sleep most the way.

There's a change table, but not all the bathroom's have them. At least on the plane I did, there were two that didn't. It's a table that's above the toilet and it lowers and covers where the toilet it.  It's no worse than a change table in a regular bathroom, just much smaller.

I had no idea airplane bathrooms had changing tables. Who knew? I guess I never thought to look before.

No worries. Before I flew, I had small panic attacks about everything. The funniest one was worrying about how I was going to pee since I was flying to Germany alone. It all worked out and went really smoothly.

He was in the bassinet for a few hours, so I went then.  The gentlemen sitting next to me was really nice, he probably would of held Jake. If not, the flight attendents were really nice and probably would of held him. My last resort was to just bring him with me and hold him, but he's squirmy. I'm glad I didn't have too.

    How long is your flight?

Only 3-4 hours or so (so not bad!)... but we have to land on the East coast, pick up/drop off people, then go back up in the air to go across Florida to the west coast. The way home is a straight flight, at least.
