Babies: 9 - 12 Months

When can they feed themselves?

Re: When can they feed themselves?

  • DD can put a Puff in her mouth if WE put the Puff in between her thumb and index finger.  If she picks it up herself, it's in her palm and she hasn't quite figured out how to get it into her mouth from there.  Does that count??  :o)

  • My DD has been doing the pincer grasp for a couple of weeks.  She's very good at it now.
  • The amazingly advanced babies of the bump seem to self-feed around six months. I'm pretty sure average is around 9 months, but every baby is different.

  • P could pretty much feed herself around 7 months.  She got really good at it around 9 months (i.e. 99% of the food made it into her mouth and not in the highchair or on the floor).

  • Hmmm... DS was not successful with this until at leat 9 months, and he still gets a lot on the floor.
