and lost working from home.
I know this sounds insane. Working from home has a lot of plusses. A ton of them. But it's been over five years that I have been home. I might be going bsc.
I miss having lunch with colleagues! I just started a new job (from home, in IT) and this job is very team-oriented...except I'm not there to be part of the team. I am sort of questioning why I was hired. To make matters worse, my supervisor isn't sending me ANY work, I'm just reading up on old requirements and wirescreens for applications that have already been built...
I should be grateful. I know this. But I am wondering if I should wait to see if it gets better AND, at the same time continue my teaching job search or look for something else in IT...
Or seek advice from a former mentor at my new place of business...?
that's another 'problem': I know so many people at this new job...
Re: I feel so lonely!
I would see if there is a way that you can work a couple days/week in the office. If that's not an option, schedule meetings with colleagues so you can go in and meet more of your team members. Even if it's just lunch. Are there team meetings held on a regular basis? Can you go in for those meetings?
Ask your supervisor if there is anything that you can do, whether there are classes or seminars, that you can gain more knowledge. See if you can collaborate with some of your new team members on projects they are working on.
I think you should talk to a mentor to see what you can do.
Working from home does have its advantages. You are focusing on the not-so-good part about it right now. ((hugs))
The office is about 3 hours away, but I offered to come in as needed. I keep asking my supervisor for more...but she's so busy and she never seems to have time.
