I am throwing my SIL a baby shower in March and I am unsure what kind of cute games we should play. I have only ever been to one shower and I really don't know any ideas to come up with. What games have/will you play at baby showers?
We will list on the invitations that if you bring diapers then you will be put in a drawing for a prize.
Re: Baby Shower ideas?
Oh and you might want to check out the baby showers board ;-)
<---
At the baby shower I did for my friend last weekend we played a game where you buy baby socks and put them in a basket all separated. I also threw some of DS mismatched socks in there to make it harder. Then people pair up with someone and they have to find the matching socks and put them together using only one hand each. It was alot of fun. I gave everyone 1 minute to get as many as they can. Everyone had a blast with it. That was the only game we played. Then the "mommy to be" got to keep the baby socks
I've been to a few and some of the games were really fun. One was a puzzel with a nursery rhyme on it and whomever finishes theirs first has to stand up and sing it. (you make your own puzzel's very easy). You can also do the blindfolded baby dressing. You get a few baby dolls and different things to put on the baby while you are blindfolded and see who does the best job. Very funny to see the outcome of some! Or there's the "baby" game. Everyone gets a clothespin when the come in but can't say the word baby or they lose their clothespin to whomever catches them saying baby..... Whomever has the most pins at the end wins a prize.
Those are a few of my favorites but I'm sure there are more out there!
That's a super cute idea.
This. I got so many ideas from the Baby Showers board for the shower I threw in November. We did the poopy diaper game and the baby bingo game. I wanted to do a third, but there ended up being too many guests to make it feasible.
Thanks
I went to a baby shower where everyone cut a piece of ribbon to the size they guessed the mom's belly was. whoever was closest got a prize.
Also, a fun game is to have a bowl of rice with several small safety pins mixed in there. The person is blind folded, and has to pick as many safety pins out as they can in 1 minute. It's actually pretty fun and harder than it sounds.
Off the top of my head, two games are:
Alphabet Baby Gear
Have a bunch of notecards with a letter of the alphabet on each card. Mix them up and randomly pick a letter. The first guest to yell out a baby item beginning with that letter (D=Diaper, B=Boppy, P=Pacifier) gets to keep that letter. The lady with the most letters at the end wins. Some letters are tough, so that can really get people thinking.
Baby Food Flavor Guessing
This game went over really well at a girls/guys shower we hosted. Take a bunch of different babyfood, take the labels off & number the lids. (Write down what the actual kind of food it is & the number beforehand.) Hand out pieces of paper and have everyone smell the different baby foods and guess what flavor they are. Whoever guesses the most correctly wins.
At the party we had there were two guys that had the same amount right at the end. Luckily, we'd prepared for a tie-breaker and brought two tougher foods. (I think one was Turkey & peas or something). If was fun & goofy.
i really like two... for one of them, you burn a cd with baby related songs on it that you play for your guests and whoever correctly identifies the most songs wins a prize. i am going to add in all sorts of goofy stuff like mother by glenn danzig and papa don't preach by madonna.
the other one i made up, but hear me out... i want to have a big old blank baby head on the wall, and we're going to print out big pictures of mom and dad's faces. we'll cut out the features, mix them up in a fishbowl and have blindfolded guests draw them out one by one and stick them to the face. that ought to be good for a few laughs.
we did this and it was really fun. It was a couple's shower too, so the men, of course, found many slightly inappropriate things to write on the diapers. the parents said that even at 3am some of the diaper notes would make them laugh.
another thing we did at a couple's shower (good friends) was have the men come with pillows in their shirt like they were pregnant. So as each couple showed up, the man was pregnant. It cracked the new mom up as she saw them walk in the door. It sounds silly, but it worked well for this shower. The guy that measured closest to the distance around the new mom's belly got a prize (although we didn't tell them this beforehand). the funniest part was the guy who measured the closest wasn't wearing a pillow. = )
The B-Word Game: Buy the little binky trinkets, some ribbin, and make binky necklaces. Give one to each guest as they walk in, and the only rule is that you are NOT allowed to say "baby". If you do, and someone catches you, then they get your necklace. By the end of the shower, whoever has the most necklaces gets a prize.
The Poopy game (kinda yucky): Buy several different chocolate bars, and place each one inside a diaper on its own, and put it in the microwave for a couple seconds so the chocolate softens. Then close the diaper, mark it so you know which diaper contains which bar, and pass the diapers to the guests, They have to open the diapers and list which diaper contain which candy bar (getting up close and personal with the "poop", lol). Winner with most correct answers gets a prize. (BTW, I have no idea who invented this game, but it was a BIG hit at my aunts and sisters baby shower.)
