So, I've never been a big fan of slings in general (never was with DD, either)...and that might be part of the issue, honestly, but...
I was given a Peanut Shell sling as a hand-me-down, and since DS is going though this "can't be put down" phase, and DD is going through this "needs both of mama's hands for something" phase simultaneously, I figured I'd give it another shot.
So, when DS is bf-ing in the sling, his positioning seems pretty good. But whenever he is not latched on (whether he's asleep or trying to latch or whatever), his head is tucked with chin to chest (which is precisely what all the instructions have big-ol'-warnings about not letting your LO be in). What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for any insight you have.
Re: sling users, come in please!
It might be that the sling isn't the right size for you (pouches are really hard to size). I also think the cradle carry is super hard to get right. You might try the upright tummy to tummy carry which is totally fine to do with any age baby. In fact, many babies prefer it over the cradle carry.

DS didn't like the cradle hold in the pouch until about 2 months, but he still loves it now when he's sleepy or especially fussy or overstimulated (it was great at my 8 year old niece's birthday party recently because he seems to block out whatever is happening outside the sling lol).
I think this is a good video https://www.hotslings.com/cradle_carry_page
One of my mistakes early on was putting the bottom seam too far over towards my hip. It should really be slightly off center.
OK. I'm totally embarrassed that I had no idea there was another possibility other than cradle hold. Thank you so much for pointing me to those videos. That plus the fact that I apparently wasn't even putting him in the cradle hold correctly makes a lot of sense as to why I never liked slings.
I get why people use slings now.
This isn't so bad!
