Childcare in Fairfax area

Hi All,

I'm looking for home-based childcare in Fairfax (123/236/Burke/Fairfax Station/Lorton). I live in City of Fairfax and work in Woodbridge. I've been making tons of phone calls based on information I found through the Fairfax County Office for Children and Virginia Department of Social Services. No one seems to have any openings. I'm starting to feel a little panicked. You're supposed to be so picky about who you leave your baby with and yet how can you be picky when there don't seem to be any openings? I wouldn't rule out a center but I'd prefer something home based. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you.

  • If you are looking for in home care, most won't know until 2-3 months out whether they have any vacancies.  You will also want to check out Infant Toddler - they are an in home facility placement service.  It's hard having to wait, but I can assure you we looked at centers early in my pregnancy adn then in home places later on - we found the proved my DD is with after she was born.  In home, in my experience, is not the nightmare center placement is.  Best of luck.

  • You have plenty of time if you are looking for an in home provider.  I originally thought I wanted a center and changed my mind at the last second.  I had a week to find an in home provider.  I called a few places, toured them and fell in love with my provider.  Good luck!

  • I love my daycare provider. She's located in centreville off of new braddock road. If you'd like her contact info, just let me know.

She only has my two kids at the moment - so she has 3 spaces available. She does a pre-school curriculum as well when the kids are older.
