Question... when did you start sporting maternity pants?

I mean, really.  I'm only 14+ weeks and my pants are uncomfortable.

I have maternity pants at home now, but I feel like this is too early to break 'em out.  I also have (and brought to work today) a BeBand that I tried at the store and think I'll be able to make work.... I just feel like I have a long way to go with this and don't want to start until I NEED to.

Is this normal?  When did you ladies begin to change attire?

Re: Question... when did you start sporting maternity pants?

  • I only sometimes wore the Bella/BeBand because I felt like I was always adjusting it.

I think it was somewhere between 16-18w that I started wearing maternity pants regularly, but I definitely wore them once or twice before that!  Also, I started wearing maternity jeans on the weekend around 15w because it was just too uncomfortable to try to squeeze into my regular jeans.  Really, don't compare yourself to what you feel is "typical"; go with what is comfortable for you, even if that means wearing them now!

  • I'm almost 16 weeks and wearing maternity pants (this is my 2nd pregnancy, but I was wearing Gap hidden panel maternity pants by 10 weeks with my first).    I just figure there's no reason to be uncomfortable.

That said, my normal jeans still fit (actually there are baggy in the legs because I've lot quite a bit of weight due to m/s).   But throughout the day, they get uncomfortable at the waist.

I'm not wearing any maternity tops yet - I thought I was starting to show last week, but now I really can't tell anymore.

  • I bought a pair of non-maternity dress pants in a size up and wore those for the majority of my 1st half of the pregnancy.  I think I started wearing maternity pants around 19-20 weeks.

I loved wearing the bellaband too.

  • I think I held off until right around 13 weeks but it was like heaven once I gave in.  Great fitting maternity pants are like gods gift to pregnant women.  If you are uncomfortable, why wait?

  • Around 18-20w, but I could have definitely used them before that. If you're uncomfortable, who cares?! Be warned, though - once you go to the comfy maternity pants, you might not want to go back! It took me a few months postpartum to give up the elastic waist. :)

  • I guess I was just trying to wait because people at work don't know yet... I don't know why, it's not like I care if they know.  Well, I guess it's partly because my direct supervisor talks non-stop, so he'd just have one more thing to talk my ear off about.  He's the one I really don't want to know yet.

And, I just went to the bathroom and put on my beband... i'm in heaven  :)

    Thanks for your thoughts, ladies!

  • I think I was 13 or 14 weeks. I never liked my Bella band. Demi panels were my favorite in the early days and as long as your top is long enough other people shouldn't be able to tell that they're maternity pants. I remember someone at work making a comment that I hadn't started wearing maternity clothes yet, but I'd been wearing the pants for months at that point.

Like pp stated, it is hard to give up the elastic waist. I wore my demi panel jeans for 2 or 3 months post-partum.

  • I think it was super early, 10-13 weeks, but button pants were too tight with my sitting all day long desk job.  I didn't learn of the Bella Band or similar products until I was past the point of them being able to work.
  • I'm 15 1/2 weeks and I've only worn my maternity jeans once b/c my size bigger ones were dirty.  I love NY& co knit pants and bought some a size bigger to get me by for a while.  They are still a little big so I think I have at least a few more weeks until I need full out pants.

  • I think I was about 18 weeks.  I never had a bellaband or anything like that.  I did use the rubberband trick to button my jeans, but could fit into most of my clothes until that time.

  • I was wearing the BeBand super early due to bloat, I think around 8 weeks. I held off on wearing mat. pants for a while after that, even though I'd bought a pair awhile ago. I just started wearing them primarily the past week and a half or so. I bought a pair of dark grey stretchy pants from Target that have been amazing :) The only time I still wear jeans/cords with the BeBand is if Abe and I are on a date or dinner out with friends. My old jeans still fit my butt and thighs really well but I can't even half-zip them anymore :( If you'd be more comfortable in mat. pants, go for them!
  • I had one pair of regular work pants that I wore until about 18 weeks.  The rest were retired much sooner than that in favor of more comfortable maternity pants.

I did wear my regular jeans until about 18 weeks as well.
