2nd Trimester

"fussbucket"

Thanks for your response to my thyroid question. I wasnt sure if you would go back and read that thread again so I figured I would just post to you.

Can you tell me some symptoms to look for when i might be feeling "off" due to my thyroid?

Re: "fussbucket"

  • I think since you're relatively recently diagnosed that monitoring monthly sounds much better than once per trimester. A lot can be in flux naturally when a diagnosis is still relatively recent.

Unfortunately a lot of the symptoms of low thyroid can be very similar to others that women experience in pregnancy. So consider where you're at right now as a baseline and look for increases in any of the following: fatigue (needing to go to bed earlier and earlier in the evening), feeling cold all the time, brain-fog/forgetfulness/hard to concentrate/multitask, hair loss, constipation with loss of appetite, dry/flaky skin, general feeling of sluggishness/slowness. Your thyroid regulates metabolism most of all, so pay attention to any reduction in appetite in particular.

For me my periods were always the best indicator of what was going on and obviously you're not going to have that!

Good luck and hope you have a happy and healthy rest of your pregnancy! Fortunately thyroid is easily managed under the right care.
