2nd Trimester

Feeling the baby move

I'm 24 weeks and I do feel the baby move from time to time but in looking at the boards it doesn't seem like I feel it as much as others.

I sure haven't "seen" anything yet.  I'm pretty average build, so I don't know if the more insulation you have the later you feel or see.

Who knows, my Dr's say everything is normal, but I guess I don't notice the movement as much as I think I should at this point.

And maybe I just don't notice it, who knows.  I think I'm expecting full out karate chops and the smaller less noticable stuff is what I'm feeling or not noticing that I'm feeling.

Of course I don't sit around and stare at my belly either and my job keeps me pretty occupied during the day, so I don't have a lot of time to notice until bed.

Re: Feeling the baby move

  • if doctor says it's normal i wouldn't worry about it... some baby's just aren't active....

  • I think all babies are different and if your doctor isn't concerned then it's ok.  Mine is a mover and you can only just start to see the little waves she makes from the outside, and even then, only if I'm laying down.

I think I read that you should feel some movement after you eat, nothing huge, just some.  I'm not 100% sure about that though, so you may want to double check with your doctor.

  • My doctor says all babies have their own personalities, and it's no big deal either way. (Really active or really calm)

  • If your Dr says it's ok, I wouldn't worry. My best friend felt her first move constantly...with her second she only felt her kick twice the entire pregnancy and rarely ever felt movement and she was fine

  • I am 24 weeks as well and I do feel the baby move, but not like crazy, like others seem to as well.  On the ultrasounds, the baby is moving alot and the doc says everything is great, so I am not worried.  I am very active and am a very sound sleeper, so it is more than likely that the baby is moving and i'm just not feeling it.  It doesn't  sound like you have anything to worry about either.
  • That makes me feel better tece.

She's moving around on the U/S as well, so for whatever reason, I'm just not feeling it too much.

Like you, I do feel it on occasion, but just not all the time like some people seem to.  It's just not overly obvious to me.

  • I only really feel mine in the morning and at night either on the couch (when I'm relaxed) or in bed.  I didn't "see" movement across my belly until 24 weeks, so I'm sure it will be any day for you!  My Dr. told me that when you are busy throughout the day, you're less likely to notice it.
  • I didn't feel LO move much around 21 weeks either, and I'm of average build, but week by week there was more movement, I'm almost 25 weeks now and he moves a lot!

This.  I also notice the little guy more often in the morning and later in the night when I'm just laying down.
