Hey ladies,
I was talking to my mother Sunday and she asked me if I'd felt any "fluttering" yet, I laughed and said no I'm only 7 wks. She was shocked that I'm already busting out of my jeans then. For the most part I'm eating very healthy, definately much better than before our BFP. Lots of fruit/veggies & water. I told her it's just bloat. But I've been taking pics since wk 5 and I did notice the bump getting a little bigger. I take the pics first thing in the morning before I have a chance to swell. I noticed my wk 7 pic has a noticeable small bump. My question is, how soon did the rest of you ladies start to notice a bump or start busting your jeans?

Re: When did you first start to show with #1?
I don't consider it "showing" until a stranger asks you if you're pg because it's obvious.
I was pretty bloated early on with DS. I had my pants unbuttoned most of the time or just wore sweats. I don't think I bought any maternity clothes until 14+ weeks.
I didn't really start to show until week 17-18 with my first. I don't know...I kinda give any first timer the side eye when they say they're showing at week 6,7,8, and so on. You baby is still below your pubic bone.
Stranger things have happen. It's your body. Call it whatever you want...bloat/bump. :::shrugs::: It's there because you're pregnant.
uggh I got that all the time with DS. SIL swore that I was showing at 8 weeks and that I was having twins. Even after my first u/s she kept on making the twin comment. DS was 7lb13oz and I was measuring right on track!
I didn't really start to show (well, other than could be explained by some holiday weight gain) until after 17 weeks or so, but then again, I'm not skinny normally, and could hide it better. People at work were stunned when I finally fessed up. Empire tops coming back into fashion helped, too!
HOWEVER....my boobs exploded around week 6. People did say they noticed, they just didn't say anything, lol.
This time around, I'm already busting out and in maternity clothes.
I had major bloat the first 10 weeks. I used a rubberband to keep my jeans together. I didn't start actually showing until 20 weeks maybe even longer.
I can only wear maternity pants..I have the "3 month bump" my doctor calls it.
It's a lot of fluids and my muscles hardening and getting ready. I feel it, and strangers see it..lol
Right I know it's too early to be a true bump. But I also see it as, I wouldnt be bloated if it weren't for being pregnant. So whichever. Just wasn't sure what say to my mother when she was questioning me as to why I was already not able to sit with buttoned jeans. Oh well.
The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new.
I was about the wear my jeans (unbuttoned) until about 20 weeks and didn't get my first "when are you due?" until 26 weeks. Sometime between 20 and 26 weeks it went from I could just be fat to definately pregnant.
But, I was thin and started taking pictures of my tummy almost each week in the beginning and I could notice a change in my body right away but it was a long time before it was obvious to others. Even though the baby is still teensy tiny your uterus is growing rapidly!
i had a bump with my first at 12 weeks.
with this one, i've been in maternity pants since 7 weeks. it's bloat, but it's round and looks like a bump. strangers notice, so surely the people i'm close to and see everyday have noticed. i had to come out at work much earlier than i'd planned because of it. i literally look at 9 weeks like i did at 16 weeks with DS
This. Exactly.

I am due on Sept. 17th as well, 7 wks & 3 days... and by week 5 I was already having to wear my jeans unbuttoned. I do the old rubberband trick! I did go and buy me a belly band, and it has helped wonders with my work pants and jeans.
Im not showing yet.. but the jeans are tighter, and I can tell a difference!!
I get confused when people say the ute is still inside your pelvic cavity until way later. When I went for my 10 week appointment my midwife showed me how high my uterus had grown and she was feeling just below my belly button.
Still, I'm popping out higher than that but I think it is a combination of fluids, previous fluffy and the ute pushing everything else up slightly. I mean, its taking up space that was previously reserved for other organs, right?
Same here. My uterus is just under my belly button & yes, all your organs begin to move, so you are more round than before. So, it's a combination of organs, bloat & uterus.
My bloat was worst at around 8 weeks. I didn't start to "show" until 20/21 weeks and even now I'm still too small for strangers to notice.
My BFP Chart
You brought up a good point. What does "showing mean?" Because looking at me undressed is a completely different story from a stranger looking at me in work scrubs.
So, what do most people use as a definition of showing?
until you are past at least 12 weeks, any "bump" would just be bloat.
