High-Risk Pregnancy

GD question/glyburide

Things have been going pretty good since I was put on 2.5 of glyburide once before bed.  This happened a few weeks ago and I have been having normal levels in the morning and pretty much throughout the day.

I had a pretty crazy weekend...I had my sisters bach. party saturday night where I stayed up late, took the glyburide really late, and yesterdays meals were all wacky because we went out to brunch, so I wasn't hungry for a lunch.  I also had a very stressful day yesterday.

This morning my levels were 99 at fasting.  I was really suprised about that.

Has anyone been on glyburide and eventually it not work?   I guess I will wait and see what happens over the next day or so and call the doc if it continues, but I was just curious if others have had to go on higher doses or switch to insulin shots after glyburide?

Thanks

Re: GD question/glyburide

  • i had a weekend where my numbers were weird as well.  the dietician told me though that they are looking for a pattern, not one or 2 high numbers.  So if your fasting numbers are back down, you are probably fine.

That being said, the dietician also told me that the possibility exists that i could need a higher dose of medication as the pregnancy progresses (i am also on 2.5 of glyburide once at night) but so far after 3 weeks i don't need to change a thing!

    hope that helps :-)

  • I had it happen last week, and like previous poster stated, they are really looking for a pattern of change.  With me, my numbers started going up all around, which my doc said was due to my body making more hormones as I got further along, and not being able to keep up, so he upped my dosage - since then I have been fine.  But watch your numbers for a few days, it might be that your body is changing, or just a fluke from the weekend.
