Heartburn is *killing* me!

Ugh, the only reason I am still up is that I cannot lay down and really need to keep my mind off my heartburn that just flared up about 10 minutes ago. It is horrible tonight - yuck!  Sorry... had to vent.  My husband is sleeping and if I try to go to bed right now, it'll be the ol' fall asleep sitting up in bed routine...

    Do u have Tums?  I thankfully haven't had heartburn too bad (so far; knock on wood), but I have had lots of the lovely vomit burps.  When I start to feel the heartburn coming on, I eat a couple Tums and it keeps it in check.

    Thanks, yeah, I already took 4 Tums... ughhhh.... it is almost giving me weird hot-flashy things.  I hate this.

    I figured you had tried Tums, but thought I'd throw it out there just in case.  Maybe call your doctor and see if there's anything else you can take or if they can prescribe anything for it.

    I had this problem during my first pregnancy and I am sure it will happen this time around later on.  I used something called Rennies but I am not sure if it is available in the US it is a lot better than tums.  Otherwise ask your doctor or pharmacist about alternatives to tums which I found sucked.  Also you may need to cut out some items in your diet.  For example I couldn't eat tomatoes or anything acidic.  I also found the dairy such as milk, ice cream and yogurt helped.  I also made lunch opposed to dinner my main meal.  Finally I made sure not to eat anything past 6-7 pm which made a huge difference.  Good luck!

    I just posted about this before I scrolled down and read this. I had heartburn last night too and it was AWFUL! I still have it now but I just took some tums I had at work so I'm hoping they start kicking in. I hope you feel better!

    I have been having crazy heartburn/acid reflux as well and too many tums make me sick so last week my OB perscribed me something that was safe.

    I would ask if I were you and Tums weren't working! Good luck!

    I woke up in the middle of the night with heartburn.  It sucks.  I got up and took 2 tums and was able to go back to sleep.  Usually I will try a glass of milk too if it's really bad or not going away.  I had asked my doctor early on about zantac because that's why I took pre pg, but she said no to the zantac.

    Thanks ladies... I know I am not alone on this one!  I had pasta for dinner and I think that was the culprit.  It didn't have a lot of tomato sauce, but apparently enough to create the heartburn...  I may talk to my dr about something stronger if it's going to keep coming like this.  I had to fall asleep sitting up.  :)
