I went to a coworkers girls only board game night last night. I only knew 2 people. At the start everyone had to tell a few things about yourself so we could get to know each other. So of course I said my husband and I are expecting our first child in July. This woman jumps in and asks me "wait how far along are you?". I said 17 weeks and she said "Aren't you worried?". I say no. And she says "oh you're not ONE of THOSE girls!". This is all going in a circle of about 20 women.
What the heck? First, little does she know that I worry about every new thing that does or doesn't happen to me and the baby. And second, I'm 17 weeks and have FINALLY started feeling confident about this pregnancy. I'm almost half way Bi%^*! And third, it's not smart to make fun of a hormonal pregnant woman.
She really bothered me last night. The hostess was mad too and told her to shut up because she knew I was a worrier.
Okay, I feel better now. Thanks for reading.
Re: Can't believe this stranger comment!
What in the world?!? That would have pissed me off too! I don't even get exactly what she was trying to imply? Glad to hear the hostess shut her down. People be crazy.
I think we have the same due date, BTW

People have absolutely no filter when it comes to what they say to pregnant women or new moms. I have heard some of the craziest things from strangers since becoming pregnant and then being out and about with B. It's really annoying. Sorry that you already experienced it!
Seriously? Why can't people just be happy for us? I had a friend that said a similar thing to me when I told her I was pregnant. She said something like "Are you worried? I would be, I've just had so many friends have something go wrong". Ok, seriously? Like, us pregnant women aren't paranoid enough!
But a total stranger saying that to you? And at 17 weeks??
