1st Trimester

Maternity Clothes already?!?

So I'm a pretty small girl (5'3 105 lbs) typically. I'm only at 8 weeks and I ALREADY had to switch to maternity clothes. I gained a couple lbs, but I think it's mostly bloat. My regular pants are now totally uncomfortable. Did anyone else make the switch to maternity so early? Also, does anyone know where a small girl like me buy maternity jeans and slacks that aren't sliding off? (I tried the Gap and JcPenny and the pants were HUGE!) I got a Be band and it's so annoying, it's always bunching.

  • I'm pretty close to your size and I wasn't in maternity pants until I was further along for the same reason, the pants will start to fit much better when you start to get a bigger baby belly and not just bloat, did you just using a rubberband on your regular pants

  • I'm 12 weeks and no have no choice and have to wear them. I could have been wearing them sooner, but wouldn't give it. My regular jeans were just cutting in too much to bear anymore!

  • Maternity pants don't really fit very well until you have a belly.  What about a couple pairs of pants up one size?
  • I bloated really bad. I was in maternity pants around the end of 7 weeks. Then, the bloat went away. I got back in my normal jeans... and what do you know?? At 13 weeks I finally have the baby bump. No bloating this time, it's the real thing. Back to maternity pants for me. LOL

I think this is a good idea.  I have gained weight from both being bloated and being on bed rest, so I am just wearing my "fat pants" for now, which are one size up from my regular pants.   For me, since this is our first child, it would be way too early to buy maternity, but one size up does the trick for the bloated tummy!

  • Thanks everyone! I'll try buying pants in a size (or two :P ) up. I saw that B-band. I'll try that too!

The bloat will go away one day hm? YAY!

  • Some ON pants are small, and I went to Motherhood and tried on like 50 pairs of small pants and ended up wth 2 that fit. lol. Finding tiny mat clothes is tough.

The B-Buckle looks so cool!  I've never heard of it.  I'll definitely check it out.  The reviews from BRU aren't very good - but I'd still be interested to see it!

  • I was 12 weeks when I finally broke down and bought maternity pants. I probably waited too long, I was REALLY uncomfortable. The BeBand was aggrevating to me as well. I had the biggest success with old navys pants. They sell them by your pants size so they fit better than those that sell in SML. I bought some underbelly elastic waisted pants that fit great in the in-between phase. In the third trimester I finally broke down and bought some full panels. They fall down without a BeBand over them, so save yours, it might do you more good later
