Tonight for the first time since becoming pregnant I went pee and had some bright red blood on the tissue. No cramping but since I'm past the time period that I understood this to be normal, I was worried.
I figured everything was fine but knew that I was just worried enough that if I tried to wait it out I was going to not sleep all night long (probably making my anxiety even worse).
So I went ahead and headed to the emergency room. They did an ultrasound, urinalysis and brief pelvic exam. Everything was fine, baby was moving around and they didn't even see blood in my canal.
All the same this was my first and I hope last scare. I know it was super mild compared to what a lot of women experience, but I was ultimately glad that I just went ahead and made sure everything was okay.
Plus since it was deemed prenatal, I didn't even have to pay for the visit! Can I just say I love my medical coverage!?! (Kaiser)
Re: 1st (and hopefully only) "over" reaction (medically)
I've had light bleeding (red blood) off & on since I was 7 weeks pregnant. My Dr. did an exam & found it to be bleeding from my cervix. Since your cervix softens when becoming pregnant & you have have more blood flow down their some are super sensitive & bleed. It was so scary! I am currently 17 weeks & 6 days & I just had bleeding again yesterday after being fine for several weeks. My heart drops every time even though I have a medical explanation for the bleeding! Try not to worry yourself too much...specially if the baby was moving around & severe cramping doesn't follow the bleeding.
Enjoy your pregnancy :0)
