*Sorry, I tried to do a clicky poll but it won't let me set it up right today for some reason...
DH and I keep going back and forth about banking our baby's cord blood for private use in the event of illness, etc. and I was just wondering what your thoughts were. Curious if you will or won't be doing it, and the reason why.

From what I've read the chances of your child needing it (without a family history of diseases that would require it) is very, very low since it will only treat certain types of blood cancers. Luckily through our hospital we have the ability to donate to a public bank. If we do need it hopefully it would still be available, but it's so unlikely that I would rather open it up to public use.
TTC #2 since April 2012
Year 1 - nothing
Year 2 - two m/c
Year 3 - unexplained diagnosis & 4 failed IUIs with Clomid/Letrozole
Year 4 - still unexplained & 3 failed IUIs with Follistim & Ovidral
Year 5 - trying on our own
This. We will be donating it so that it can be used for donation or research. My doctor agrees that there is not enough research to justify us spending a boat load of money on banking it for ourselves and we came to that conclusion ourselves while doing research. My doctor is happily helping us with the donation process.
