Since I'm newish and being a helicopter parent doesn't quite agree with me, I'll share some confessions. I'm so paranoid someone is going to ingest something and another hospital trip, I'm hovering.
Judge if you will
My older daughter Quinn loves high heels, like hooker heels. She wears my knee high boots like thigh boots and she looks good. She always has at minimum five necklaces on.
Both my girls are obsessed with Vera Bradley, like scream when they see someone with it, and love the store. They each have four or five Vera's. (Not sure where this came from)
Some kids like Dora, my Quinn loves Gossip Girl, she even has a Gossip Girl calendar, She's never really seen an episode but she loves it.
I think I'm making my children OCD, because we are always sweeping up some mess, and they actually both asked for brooms as a treat.
I shop entirely too much. I don't think it is normal for Pottery Barn and Anthro to send you a personal birthday card. But I'm doing my part for the economy, we are in a recession!
Re: Parenting confessions
Um, how old are your kids? And, honestly, this post sounds more like you are bragging than confessing much.

This.
Vera Bradley is pretty distinctive. And they colors/patterns are insanely eye-catching. I can totally see toddlers loving it and recognizing it. Kinda like they clamor for character stuff? If she happens to have toddlers of distinction, cool! I think that's pretty cute. But, I've been known to be shallow, too, though.
PS: Please don't take offense to being called shallow. I just know that's where this post is headed
This board loves to tell people how they should/shouldn't be.
huh??? I was never sure how helicopter parent leads to stimulating the economy...but you made the connection....good job.
I know. I was coming in here to confess that last week I only gave my 7 month old 1 bath in 6 days. But confessing that you have so much money you buy crazy expensive purses for your very young daughters seems braggy.
Do you have them or don't you?
.....

I'm not going to take offense to how strangers perceive/think of me. I basically am who I am, and can't apologize for it.
Completely not bragging, who knows maybe my only friends are the ones in retail.
why would you buy an 18 month old a vera bradley.. Oh wait you have money to burn is that what you are trying to tell us.
Congratulations but in these times people really do not want to see others bragging about their money
She said in her last post they are almost 3 and 16 months (although later she said 15 months).
I think she's a troll who's full of it.
Again, I am disturbed. A 3 y/o looking good in "hooker boots" is seriously messed up. If she's not a troll, she's definitely a moron.

jennimac---don't let them scare you off! I like you.....
(everyone else.....be nice for awhile, pleeeeeeeease!!!!)
I'm guessing if she has a VB store, its not expensive for her.
I'm curious if she's never seen gossip girl, how does she know about it?
Eh, whatever you like to talk about is fine or do with your cash. Someone has to keep this economy going and its not going to be me.
Oh Belle like you've never bragged...
Oh please, Mominator. Didn't you put mascara on your toddler for Halloween? Retract the claws, girl. No need!
Yes, HALLOWEEN!!!! Not every day play(eta instead of wear) ffs. Is it possible for you ever to not be on your high horse?

Not that I have to defend myself, or my judgement. Yes, I am very fortunate to not have to worry about losing my home or feeding my children. So if that is braggy then fine I'll brag about that.
As to whether my child is 15 or 16 month old, she is 15 months and 2 weeks, she was born October16 so I'm sorry if you think I'm a moron or a troll, to which I'm neither. Just apparently someone for you to all pick on today.
As to the terrible Vera Bradley, myself I have none, my two children have multiple and I have not purchased any of them. I think of it as nothing more than their grandparents buying them something they will enjoy. They do not have the rolling luggage, small purses completely appropriate for their size. Judge if you want, but the girls always get compliments on their purses.
An to my thinking she looks cute in heels, she does not leave the house in them and it doesn't hurt anyone. I actually *gasp* took pictures.
I'm not sure why everyone is up in arms over this post?
My DD loves to wear my heels and boots. Until a couple of months ago, my siggy pics were of my daughter in my heels and before putting up the pics of DS I was going to post DD in my black patent leather tall boots.
As for the VB stuff - like Purf said, it's very distinctive, so I can see why little kids would like it....grownups liking it thought? That's flameworthy IMO
High horse? Really? I do believe I've have some well-deserved nest-perceptions, but is high-and-mighty one of them?
I just don't see why you're being so mean to her right off the bat. Let her annoy the shiit out of for awhile FIRST, then attack. it's the nest-way, after all!
Also, I totally put mascara on Emily for pro-pics after you posted that. It just got all clumpy and smeared, though. My point is that we ALL have our questionable parenting choices.
This is probably why new people are scared to post here! FWIW my 10 year old SD has a Coach pruse and a Coach wristlet- both of which were purchased for her as gifts from her aunt.
The only reason I am thinking she may be a troll is just because she has like 1 or 2 posts, but the content of the posts don't offend me.
Agreed! DD likes to dress up in high heels too, and has for a long time. As long as she's not letting her walk the street dressed in them, big deal. And please, it's Vera Bradley, not Louis Vuitton.
Ha,ha,ha,ha!!!

Hi Jen!!! Please give the girls a hug for me!
I'm not a troll, whatever that means. But if this how a new person is treated, I'm sure you don't get many new people here. I actually posted quite a bit when I was pregnant and just got sick of the preachiness (if that is even the right word) I'm not judging anyone about what they choose to do with their children. I'm sorry to upset people with my trying to introduce myself and my personality.
How does one prove they are not a troll, is there a secret handshake. I've actually had a playdate with a fellow nestie and she liked me and got my humor.
I can care less about the VB or high heels. I want to know the attraction to Gossip Girl when you've never seen the show?
How does that happen?
I hate Gossip Girl btw.
I don't see anything worth flaming though.
No idea about the Gossip Girl. commercial maybe? Maybe it is all tied together with my questionable parenting practices
We went shopping (Not bragging) for a calendar, and she said "oh, gossip" So we bought it.
Just curious
Whatever makes her happy. And we all need a calendar. I waited too long and I'm stuck with Dilbert or something. Bah.
My kids are insanely brand-aware, too. Like, Ben asked for a Touch N Brush for his birthday after seeing the commercial a zillion times on Nick Jr.
I'm sorry a few people are being sassy to you on your first day. You seem like you can roll with the punches, though, so hopefully you won't let it phase you. This board is insanely catty, clique-y and fickle, but it's filled with wonderfully sweet, thoughtful people, too.
but see...that's what the parenting board is here for. To tell you OUR opinions on what you do with your kids.
I seriously LOVE you. And invite you to join my Parenting high school clique.
Jackson likes the wonder hangers commercial and asks for them all the time. He also knows certain stores in the mall. Kids pick up on random stuff.
Finally, Anthropologie is my favorite store EVAH.
::passes jennimac her half of our BFF heart necklace::
PS - Jackson wears high heels too. Judge that!
