Bumbos

Just wondering how many MoMs  have these, and would you recommend them?

Thanks! :)

Re: Bumbos

  • i'm not a mom just yet, but Bumbo seats totally creep me out. It just seems weird and unnatural to force a baby's body to sit before she's ready.

  • We use them. We have the trays too and use them to feed the girls. The girls have always liked them, but I've been told that some babies don't like them at all. If you get them as gifts or can buy them used, then go for it or wait to see if your LOs like them before you buy them new.
  • we have one. the boys dont care for it much and they are already on the verge of outgrowing it (chunky monkeys). i say start with one and see how it goes over. it is good for developing those neck muscles as an alternative to tummy time, and to get them off their backs (help prevent flat head).
  • Mine loved theirs, we had the trays that go with them also. I just sold them last week b/c they can sit on their own and DS kept trying to throw himself out of it.

  • Yes!  We love them and they are perfect for the stage just before they can sit up (but want to).  A must have for us :)

I agree.  We never had one for DD, and won't for the twins.  I know she used one at day care, but we don't have them at home.

  • Didn't register for one and didn't buy one later on.  I wasn't sure if they'd like them or if they would be use for a length of time worth spending the money on.  I knew it wasn't essential for their development - learned to sit up well on their own at a reasonable age - and I'm glad I skipped them.  But yes, there are moms that LOVE them!
  • some moms don't like them- some love them.

I love mine. We don't use them much anymore since the boys can sit unassisted (i still use them for feeding sometimes)... but they were great from 3mo until 6.5mo when they couldn't sit - it gave them a different view, enabled them to be able to "play" with toys easier, sit with their big brother while he played, and also great for eating solids before they were able to sit well in the high chair.

you can buy them 2nd hand really cheap at yard sales, craigslist, consignment - I wouldn't buy new- since they are so easy to clean and so much cheaper 2nd hand.

  • We didn't have one for DS1 and I'm not sorry.  I did ask for them for Christmas for the twins because I think it'll make feeding so much easier when we start solids.  The high chairs we use aren't great for the beginning stages.
  • Thanks ladies! :)
  • Loved it! I just bought another, and my daughter (almost 3) somehow still fits in it. I definitely wouldn't buy new though. Goldie's right... so much cheaper used and available all over the place. The tray was really helpful, too.
  • I got two off Kijiji since I had heard some babies love them or not and did not want to pay full price for each of them IF they didn't like them, we barely use them and one of the twins doesn't like it so for us it's not a "must" :)

  • Never had one for DS1 and didn't buy one for the twins. I  did though receive one from a friend who was done with hers.  We used it a couple times over a 1-2 month period is all.  I don't really see the need for it and I definitely wouldn't pay full price for it.
