I can't figure out if my milk came in (I didn't know it could happen with a m/c at 13 weeks) or if my supply is just going crazy. I woke up with porn star-ish looking engorged boobs that were leaking! I haven't leaked in months. I also woke up drenched in sweat the past 2 nights and had to change my pjs.
Hannah is nursing 3 -4 times a day but I don't ever get engorged anymore. Even on Tuesday when I only nursed her once in the morning and not again until yeterday evening I didn't get engorged. I only pumped 2 times yetsterday and not at all on Tuesday.
If my milk did come in it would it look like my regular milk or like colostrum? I guess I should check it out. Hannah doesn't seem to mind if the milk has changed. I'm full but not totally engorged again since dd hasn't nursed in hours (but that's our normal schedule). So I just keep doing the regular schedule and things should even out right?
Re: ::SIGH:: I think my milk came in this morning (bfing moms help)
my bewbs do really funny leaky things whenever I've had a m/c, and they've usually been very early. AND I have not nursed since Ava was 6 months old. So I'm going to say they're just reacting to some prolactin and hormone changes.
Mean bewbs. Don't they know you have enough to deal with????!!!!!
How are you feeling otherwise? 2 weeks later after the world went back to normal was the hardest part for me. I was still on the couch in my pajamas and NO interest in sharing my M&M's yet.
Thinking of you....
If you were already nursing you shouldn't have had milk "come in" per say. It would just continue and increase supply to meet an expected new demand.
It should be milk - not colostrum.
And the recent wonky feeding schedule could very well be to blame for the engorgement.
Keep at it on your regular schedule and you should even out.
I'm so so sorry you've got one more thing to deal with regarding this loss.
I hope it evens out soon.
Keep in mind though that you're gonna have a huge hormone crash in about another week or 2. You may see some weird things with supply going on for a bit longer but eventually it should all settle back down.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
Thanks ladies.
Davez - I'm feeling fine physically. The hospital called today to tell me the cemetary would be calling in the next few days to let me know the baby arrived there. That was upsetting but at the same time the hospital has been so wonderful about the way they've handled everything so I'm thankful for that. I got dressed today and put on makeup so I feel like I'm having a decent day. I've been playing around with DHs fancy camera because I feel like filling my mind with new things is better than leaving it to wander around.
Shel - Thank you for the bfing lessons and tips. I hope you are hanging in there too!
