Question about H1N1/flu shot

The other post got me thinking about this.  How many ppl are getting both?

I ask because we are going to Costa Rica in less than 2 weeks and my dr. advises that I get both because of the travel.  I have NEVER had a flu shot before and generally don't get sick but for the sake of the baby I plan to get both...should they be taken on different days?

Would would you guys do, I know this can be a bit controversial on these boards as to whether or not to get the shots...

  • Got both.

  • I got both & got them separately.  I'm pretty big on separating vaccines.

  • I'm not getting either shot, I have never had a regular flu shot. I really think its a decision you and your doctor have to make, if he recommends it and it's something you want, then do it. Mine didn't even ask if I wanted it, and we travel a lot (within the country)

  • I did both but not at the same time.
  • I got the seasonal shot prior to getting pg, and once I was pg, my OB office gave me the H1N1.

I'm all for protecting myself from getting the flu - especially now that I've just battled a cold while pg and I was MISERABLE!!!

  • I got both.  They would have included the H1N1 into the seasonal flu shot, but it presented too late so they had to produce another one.

It's just like every other flu shot given out every other year.

H1N1 increases the risk of death for both mother and child.

  • Get both and do it on separate days.  The dr. office would not give me both at once.  They said if I had a reaction to one it would be easier to figure out which one caused the reaction if I received them on different days.

  • Get the shots. When your pregnant your immune system goes down. You can catch anything so easily.
  • I got both. I got the regular flu shot in the fall and the H1N1 today.

  • I got both just before I was pregnant.  Asthma qualified me to get the shot along with the other preggos and high risk people.

  • I am absolutely not getting either of the flu shots, but I think since you're traveling to costa rica it puts you at a little higher risk... I would get them if your doctor recommends it.
