Did you or are you getting the H1N1 Vaccine? I am on the fence and was curious about you ladies opinions. TIA

I was not planning on getting one.

Then I got a BFP.

I immediately got one. H1N1 is nothing to mess around with when you are pregnant.

I have never gotten a flu vaccine. I was debating on getting the H1N1 now or in my 2nd trimester. i just ended up getting one Tuesday night - the preservative free one. I'm just nervous because it's new. I did also hear they will be trying to incorporating the h1n1 vaccine in with the regular flu shot. Not sure if that's true or not.

Oh and I haven't gotten the regular flu shot and do not plan on getting that.

I will be getting it. I normally get the seasonal vaccine because of other health issues, but just hadn't gotten the H1N1 yet...it is on my to-do list now.

I've never gotten a flu vaccine and I don't plan to start now. The NP didn't encourage it at my first appt., but I have an appt. with my dr. next week and her opinion could sway me, but I doubt it.

This. I got H1N1 when I was 4 weeks pregnant (two weeks before Christmas). It was horrible - hospitalized twice - and I was expected to miscarry. Thankfully I didn't, but I've been on bed rest ever since.

I fully 100% believe in flu shots! I'm a nurse, so of course I'm going to be an advocate for them

I'm not sure about my opinions as far as the H1N1 vaccine. Just remember that MOST vaccines (except MMR, IPV...) contain a dead version of the virus, so your body builds up an immunity towards it- preventing you from that type of sickness/infection.

Some people have a reaction to flu vaccine b/c of an allergic response to eggs...or some people do have a tendency to just feel icky afterwards

If you're not FOR getting vaccinated for the flu, the best prevention is HAND WASHING! Almost go into a "paranoid mode" w/it - wiping down a library computer before you use it, carrying hand sanitizer with you.....Eat really healthy, and taking your vitamins.

I did. I actually got it before I knew I was pregnant, but I would have gotten it anyway. Because H1N1 seems to hit young healthy people disproportionately hard, I felt like it was a good precaution to take. I actually am less concerned about the regular seasonal flu, and haven't gotten that one yet (not that I'm against it, but it is just lower priority for me).

I also got the H1N1 shot around 7 wks. People are generally concerned about the side effects from the Therasol preservative in the shot more than the atcual medicine. Per the CDC website, the 'regular' H1N1 shot has 25 mcg of Therasol and the single dose shot for pregnant women has <1 mcg. Last I heard over 2,000 pregnant women have died from H1N1 and I just couldn't live with dead.

I got mine in the spring only because I work in pediatric healthcare, and our h1n1 population was insane!

seriously?!?! over 2,000 pregnant women DIED solely from the H1N1 vaccine? hmmmm...where are you hearing this? If that many people died from it, you think it would be recommended for pregnant women nationwide?

Yes, I got both before I was even pg. Then again, I'm frontline healthcare when dealing with H1N1. With that said, I've seen many deaths secondary to H1N1 so it's not something to mess around with. And not all these people were immunosuppressed. Some were healthy people in their 20s. It seems to just be really hard on some people. Especially while pg I don't see any reason why you wouldn't get it.

I am not getting one, because last time I got the regular flu vaccine I actually got a very bad case of the flu and don't want to take a chance with this.

Not the vaccine, the virus. I got the regular flu shot at around 6 weeks and H1N1 at 13 weeks. We had alot of H1N1 around here and I didn't wanna mess with it.

I just got mine today.

I got a different vaccine than the general public as there are two. One is safer for pregnant women, which is the one I got.

It took all of 3 minutes.

I would totally get it...I just think the risks of not getting one are too huge to take.
