Prenatals

Hi ladies, I am sure that this question has been over and over again but I'm a newbie.

 I went to the doc today at about 6 weeks for a first appointment and was of course prescribed prenatals that will be $65 per month with my insurance.

 I feel like that is a bit high and I am wondering if there is a real need for the prescriptions prenatals.

 What types are you ladies taking?

    I am taking prescription prenatals just because they end up being cheaper than over the counter varieties. But, many people take the over the counter variety and there really is no difference. If your prescription is $65 a month I'd say go with the OTC prenatals!

    i'm taking naturemade multi prenatal. they were pretty cheap at the store and my doctor said they were fine yesterday.

    I'm taking prenatal vitamins from www.mountainmeadowherbs.com  I think I paid about $50 for an entire year's supply. OTC prenatals are just as good as perscription as long as they have the recommended doses of folic acid, etc. Also, on this site they have all kinds of natural things for morning sickness, and everything else you can think of.

    Go with OTC!!!  That price is ridiculous!  My prenatals cost $5.00 a bottle for 100 pills!!!

    No prescription here - not worth the price!  I'm using Naturemade Prenatal multi vitamins with DHA - my doc was 100% happy with that.

    OTC prenatals are fine. generic ones cost me $4.00 for an 8 month supply

    There is no reason for prescription over the OTC ones that I know of.  I am taking Nature Made Prenatals and my doctor was fine with that.

    The prescription ones could end up being cheaper than the OTC for some people just based on their copays.

    Don't know if you have Meijer in your area, but if you do they will give you free Meijer brand prenatals with a prescription.  I've been taking them & my doctor says they're fine

    your in chicago... you can go to any meijers store with your perscription and they will give you prenatal vitamens for free. i just saw it in their sunday ad. said that is what they always do. if i had seen that i few weeks ago i would have done that. instead i left my expensive presp and bought over the counter NatureMade ones from walmart.
