I am putting our LO in a long sleeved onesie and a cute fleece zip up outfit that has feet and a hoodie. Then for transport he will be bundled in a thick winter suit. Then I may cover him up in the car seat with a blanket, but that might be over doing it. It is in the 30-40 right now but may snow this weekend so who knows!
We'll be doing a cozy outfit, but be careful that it's nothing that will snag her cord stump. We have an hour long drive, so I think we'll be layering blankets on and around her. I thought of doing one of those sac things or a carseat cover, but, if she gets hot on the drive home, I want to be able to take a blanket off and comfort her etc.

We will have our baby in a onepiece outfit and then a bunting outfit over top. The hospital gives you a wonderful thermal blanket too so that will cover the carseat. Technically the baby will only be going from the front door of the hospital to our car and car to house, so won't be out in the cold too long.
Just FYI, you're not supposed to leave the "carseat cozies" or "bundle me's" on the carseat when you're in the car. The baby can overheat. You'll have the heat on in the car for yourselves and the baby will be dressed for cold weather anyway. Those are great for getting the baby to the car or going for strolls in cold weather, but it is a bit much if you leave it on in the car (assuming you have the heat on).

The JJ Cole Bundle Me rocks! You'll use it from now until the weather warms up, and you'll still have use for it next fall and winter. Here is a link, sorry it's not clicky:
Just planning on a fleece sleeper and the shower-cap-type carseat cover. I did buy a new sleeper so that he wasn't using a hand-me-down one from his brother.
We also put her in this soft fleece snowsuit type thing (not as bulky as the snowsuits though) because it was so cold the night she came home. We had a pink carseat cover from DD1 and put that on the seat as well:

Cute outfit, poor baby.

A nice warm sleeper with a cap for her head, a onesis underneath, a saddle blanket and one of her throw blankets to cover her carseat when we are walking out the hospital. The heat will be on in the car so I don't want to over do it.
I'm bringing 2 options - a long sleeve fleece sleeper with feet or a long sleeve onsie with sweats. I also have a bundle me for his car seat. I think that's plenty. It's not like we're going to be hanging out outside for ages.
baby is due the end of March... I have NO idea what the weather will be like here (just moved).. but normally it is supposed to be around -4 F (-20 C), and its been more like 35 F (2 C).. so maybe we will get a late winter, or no winter at all.
I was planning on getting a bundle me, blanket, and warm outfit.. lots of layers because the weather here changes a lot.
Re: Cold Weather babies...what did you get to bring baby home in?
I'll put a onsies undershirt under this along with some really warm fuzzy socks that I have for her. Then I'll bundle her in a blanket.

I'm just putting her in a fleece sleeper and then the Bundle Me. They do ROCK!
This is the outfit Adleigh came home in:
