Tattoos in honor of your LO? Thoughts?

I do not have any tattoos (yet), but my brothers and SILs are covered (we have a family friend that is a really great tattoo artist). Recently I've been thinking about getting one in honor of DD. I know exactly what I would want: a celtic Raven ::looks down at ticker:: but I had a friend tell me that tattoos in honor of your children are lame. He couldnt really explain why he thought that though.

Anyway, what do yall think?

I think its sweet, I like it but would never get one myself but only bc I wouldnt get a tatoo.

I don't think they're lame and I will be getting one as soon as I can figure out what the heck I want. It's so hard to narrow it down.

I have my oldest daughters name on my foot and people give me grief about it because feet are "dirty". I put her name on my foot because she keeps me going/moving in the right direction so I put it into a literal translation.

Anyway, I like them.

I'll be getting one.... have to figure out exactly what and where to put it though and then wait at least a year to make sure it's exactly what I want!

I can't wait to get a tattoo for DS. I'm going to put it on the inside of my wrist. I'm not sure what yet though.

Haha, I totally have the same rule! I say, if I still want the same thing, in the same place, in a year- I think I'm good.

Tattoos are for you, not for your friends, so get it if it makes you happy. FI and I each have a good amount of tattoos and we will get one in honor of our children someday. (waiting to see how many kiddos we have so we can incorporate them all into the same piece)

pretty bad, I wouldn't recommend the foot if it's your first tattoo

ETA: Although if it's small and not very detailed, it will be over quickly so it's more bearable

It was pretty painful in some spots, but others weren't bad. It was kind of wierd... The top of the foot hurt worse than the side. One thing about foot tattoos though is they don't take the ink as well. I need to go get it touched up because it faded a lot once it finshed healing.

THIS! I was just talking to DH about it this weekend. I want one soo bad but no idea what yet!

They are NOT lame. IMO what better to get a tattoo of, than your child? You will always love it, no matter what because it's in honor of your LO.

DH has a lot of tattoos and did get one for Jack. I don't have any and I probably won't get one for him. I am not 100% on any idea, so I won't do it until I am (if I ever).

i want to get my DD's footprints. I have each set taken at the hospital, and wanted to get those as tattoo's. lame I know- but to each his own

My brother-in-law has his daughter's name written on the inside of his arm, and I think it's kind of nice. I already have a very small tattoo from ten years ago (OMG ten years!!!) and I have been thinking about getting E's name written under it in script. With room for other names, should there be other children. But I haven't decided yet! I don't think I would get anything new.

I planned on getting my baby's handprint as a tattoo since I was 15. I am thinking I'll wait until we have both our children, though, so I can get them both done at once.
