Calliope
Prounounced: k?-LIE-?-pee
From wikipedia:
Greek mythology, Calliope (Greek: ?a????p?, Kalliope, "beautiful-voiced", pronounced in English /k?'la??pi/ ka-LIE-oh-pee, except when referring to the street in New Orleans) was the muse of heroic poetry,[1] daughter of Zeus and Mnemosyne, and is now best known as Homer's muse, the inspiration for the Iliad and the Odyssey.
*sigh*
Re: New favorite baby name...
Love! it's also a musical instrument!

Very pretty, but I think of the instrument right away.
Okay this was my #1 fave fave FAVE name for a girl. Mainly for the muse, but also because back in the '80s my favorite character on Days of Our Lives was Calliope and she was this quirky fashion designer and I wanted to be a fashion designer when I grew up. And I thought Callie was a great nickname.
BTW Sara Ramirez' character on Grey's Anatomy is named Calliope.
But DH nixed it over the musical instrument aspect. And when i even asked fellow English lit or writer friends about the name, they didn't think of the muse, they thought of the musical instrument.
I however adore it, would think of the muse or just the beauty of the word and if we have another girl I may make another case for it to DH.

Interesting! I had no idea it was also a musical instrument or a tv show character. I saw that a photographer had done a photo shoot of someone's baby named Calliope & fell in love...
