I was wondering what the best way to warm frozen breast milk is. I am going to be using the medela pump and store bags. My last pregnancy we ran it under hot water. Is there a better way? Thanks
We have a big 32 oz cup that we fill with hot water and put the bag in there until it is thawed and warm. Sometimes we have to replace the water once. We used to run it under hot water, but I feel like the cup doesn't waste so much water.
If you use a cup, just BE SURE the ziplock part of the bag is out of the water. We had one or two incidents where water leaked into the milk, which -- as you can imagine -- is heartbreaking!
I think running it under water is the best way. Like the PP said, make sure the ziplock part is out, and if you use Lansinoh bags and compress when you freeze them, they will leak as an FYI, I learned the hard way!
