Hi - I am just curious ... I have heard from so many that breastfeeding really helps you loose the baby weight. Is this something that usually happens pretty quickly or does it take months and months. Just curious since I have not seen much of a difference and have been breastfeeding for 8 weeks now. Thinking I just might not be one of the lucky ones that this works for.
Thanks in advance!!
Re: Weight loss w/ Breastfeeding question...
It didn't seem to help me much with my first. I was still trying to lose those last 5 lbs a year later. The weight never "melted off," as I had been told it would. I had to watch what I ate and work out.
This time, the weight is coming off super fast. I have lost about 25 of the 30 lbs I gained. Maybe the difference is that DC#1 was never a big eater -- a tiny baby who was 15 lbs at a year. This time, I am mostly pumping (because DS is having issues with latching/BFing), and I am pumping about 3-4 oz per session, 8 times a day. So I definitely think I'm producing more BM this time. I was in my pre-pg jeans at 2 weeks pp. With DD, that took a couple of months.
baby was born 1-6-10 and as of friday at the dr. i was down 11 lbs from my pre-preggo weight. i eat a lot-every couple hours, and drink tons of water etc.
even last pg when i exclusively pumped i dropped weight pretty quickly. however, i eventually put some back on!
I gained 35 pounds in my pregnancy and DD is 13 weeks old today and I still have 5 more pounds to go. But the first 20 melted away in the first 2 weeks. The next 10 I really didn't do anything for it just took 10 weeks.
I was down the 33 lbs I gained by 3 weeks pp.
