Multiples

What do you wish you had done before your multiples came?

We are now <6 weeks from our twin boys arriving and I was wondering what you wish you had done before your multiples came. For instance, I remember reading someone saying they wished they had gotten together addresses for birth announcements before the babies came and I thought that was a great idea. I've also heard to make meals and freeze them. These aren't my first but we will have 4 under 4 when they come so I'm trying to make life easier for myself in any way possible. Thanks!

Re: What do you wish you had done before your multiples came?

  • I wish we had went on an overnight trip- like a babymoon.  We currently have such limited time to be together and I wish we had taken the time to just get away before the babies came. I guess a trip would be hard if you already have 2 at home but if you could do anything special together, I would recommend it.

Now I did make freezer meals and also loaded up on pantry/toiletry items and I am glad I did that. We have had to make trips to the grocery store but just for items like milk, bread, etc.  Everything else we have.  I also got my hair cut and colored a couple weeks before my induction and I am glad I did that. I dont see a haircut/color in my future any time soon.

  • We went to Costco and loaded up on paper goods and other things that we would not want to run out for later.

I had intentions of making meals but did not - that has worked out okay.

I wish I had rested more. I was so intent on doing so much before they came -

I wish I had done more special things with my 4 year old. She is acting out now (expected) and it would not have changed things but I know she would have loved to have more time with me before the babies came.

I also had my hair cut/colored and a mani/pedi done. Just made me feel better when I came home from my c-section.

I wish I had hired a night nanny. :-)  We were lucky in that we found one after they were born, but she very easily could have already had a case.  She's the only reason I still have any sanity left!

  • Hmm...

-Gone out more to dinner with the hubs

-Hear when people told me it was ok to ask the Dr for a sleeping pill to at least get one decent night of sleep before they arrived.

    -Stuck up on non-perishables.

    -Have some freezer meals ready

-Read the sleep training books...  I bought mine after the twins arrived but I'm too sleep deprived to read them!

  • Thanks so much. I totally forgot that I need to get a haircut!!! I'm scheduling that this week. Lots of other good ideas.

RoseWhite- I did the same thing with my first- bought the sleep books after she was here. I can't imagine how much worse it would be with twins!

  • 1) Go out for a nice dinner

    2) Get my hair done

    3) Take a "girls" day and get a pedi.   Massage would be great too!
