Success after IF

anyone have success once they lost weight??

I am on a break until I can lose weight. I have done 4 IVF cycles with no success. I went to a new RE who basically says they do everything totally different and told me the place I went to had horrible success rates for IVF...

so anyways he told me to lose 40lbs. this would leave me about 190lbs. I am wondering though if I should try to get closer to 150 to be a normal BMI...

Ok sorry rambling. Anyone feel they had success once they lost weight??

thanks ladies:)

Re: anyone have success once they lost weight??

  • I got pregnant on a break cycle after 2 years of TTC and treatments.  I'm not sure if my 30 lb weight loss had to do with it...it could've been many other factors as well.  My guess may have been a combination of weight loss, residual effects of Clomid, and acupuncture that made my ovaries do something they never do: ovulate.  I do know weight loss can help PCOS in some instances, if that is your diagnosis.  GL!!

  • Me! I totally believe that it was my exercise and weight loss that helped me get pregnant. My problem was PCOS and I wasn't ovulating or cycling at all.

We went through treatments a little over a year ago. We did IVF which was cancelled due to OHSS and miscarried twins from our FET.

I was so unhealthy from all the meds and treatments and crap I put my body through, I decided to take control and I started exercising 4-6 times per week and I lost a lot of weight. After the first month, my cycles came back. I started charting, and sure enough, I was actually ovulating as well. DH and I decided, dr's be damned, we will try on our own, and we got pregnant naturally shortly afterwards.

I am sure it is because I made my body healthy enough to carry a healthy pregnancy by losing the weight and getting in shape.

Diet and exercise are so cliche, but they are better than any medicine I have ever taken.

  • i got pg after when i was 8 mo pp - but i had just dropped my last 'chunk' of weight from the pregnancy.  i didn't ever o on my own - as pcos and my weight were likely a factor.  (or at least that's what my re thought)

it's hard to lose weight - but if it's a going to help your chances even remotely, it's totally worth the work.  good luck.  what i have read - 10% of a drop is sometimes enough.
