Baby Names

I would like some input on boy name

My husband's name is Andrew, he goes by that name or Andy..never Drew.  I've always loved the name Drew and he really likes it too.  Would it be too weird to name our son Drew?  Also, both of our fathers' names is Paul.  Does Drew Paul remind you too much of RuPaul? hehe...  Thanks for the input.

  • Is there any reason you wouldn't give DS the name Andrew and just call him Drew?  Drew Paul does remind me of RuPaul, but if you name him Andrew you avoid that connection.

Exactly my thoughts.  But Drew Paul is fine too.

  • I don't think it's weird. I really like Drew too. Drew Paul is too abrupt. You need something with more than 1 syllable.
  • Thanks.  Im just hesitant to do the whole junior thing because I've heard it can be confusing....but I wasn't sure if I would still run into problems with his name being so close anyway.  Maybe we just need to scratch this idea and come up with something completely different if I'm having all these isssues...too bad beause i LOVE the name Drew.

I agree with all of this!

  • I think just going with Drew is a great way to honor your DH without making your DS a junior....I'm not a fan of it Jr's anyways.  And I don't have a problem with just Drew being the name.  I agree with the others too that I would stay away from Drew Paul.
  • LOL, yes, it does remind me of RuPaul!  That being said, I really do like Drew.
  • I think that you will have less confusion because the first and middle names will be different, right?  So for tax purposes or social security, etc. it will be different.

I love Drew, but I would go with Andrew Paul and call him Drew.

I agree! Drew is a great way to honor your DH without having to make him a Jr. I love Drew by itself, and I don't think it would be weird at all since your DH doesn't go by that. However, I would stay away from the Drew Paul combination.

  • I think Andrew Paul, nn Drew, is great and doesn't have to be a jr. You get to honor both, but still have you son be unique without being a junior.
    Blank!

    this, exactly.

  • I like your idea of naming him Drew but I really dislike it with Paul although I think using Paul is a nice idea. Is your DH Andrew Paul, also?

DS is a Jr (well actually he's the second). I was against the idea at first but it's not a problem for us. DH is Phil and DS is Philip. We've had some mix-ups on insurance paperwork due to people not paying attention to full names but nothing so irritating that we've regretted the decision.

I would do thi. One of my friends has a DH Andrew - goes by Andy and named son Andrew - calls him Drew. I think it is so cute!
